Real Madrid defender Álvaro Carreras has appeared to confirm reports that he was struck by Antonio Rüdiger during a tense confrontation—but stressed that the matter has since been resolved.
Tensions have periodically boiled over in the Real Madrid dressing room throughout a deeply frustrating campaign, with several training ground incidents reported over the course of the season.
Álvaro Arbeloa was appointed manager in January to stabilize the situation both on and off the pitch, following Xabi Alonso's departure after a brief and turbulent tenure. Rumors of internal discord have persisted despite the managerial change.
Club captain Dani Carvajal was reportedly involved in injuring a youth team player with a reckless challenge earlier in the season, while Kylian Mbappé released a statement following claims this week that he had a heated confrontation with a member of Madrid's coaching staff.
Rüdiger and Carreras Get Into Physical Altercation

Rüdiger appears to be the latest player to lose his cool, and had to be pulled apart from Carreras following a fiery exchange.
Onda Cero sensationally reported that the German international "slapped" his teammate during the altercation, which occurred at a training session last month between the victory against Alavés and the draw with Real Betis during a moment of "high tension."
The report uses both the colloquial Spanish expressions "bofetón" (slap, or open-handed strike) and "tortazo" (smack) to describe Rüdiger's action.
The Athletic, meanwhile, reports that Rüdiger subsequently apologized for his behavior and took his teammates out for a lunch last Friday as a gesture of reconciliation.
Notably, Carreras has not appeared for Madrid since the incident and has faced criticism over unprofessional conduct after he was seen apparently laughing at the decision to bring on Fran García ahead of him during Sunday's 2–0 victory over Espanyol.
Carreras Claims Relationship With Teammates Remains Good

Taking to his Instagram story, Carreras has now addressed recent events, offering his perspective while acknowledging—though downplaying—the incident involving Rüdiger.
The post read: "In recent days, certain insinuations and comments have surfaced about me that are simply not true.
"My commitment to this club and to the coaches I've had has been unwavering from day one, and it will continue to be so. Since my return, I have always worked with the utmost professionalism, respect and dedication. I have fought very hard to fulfill my dream of coming home.
"Regarding the incident with a teammate, it was an incident that does not usually occur, without relevance, which has been sorted out. My relationship with the whole team is very good. Hala Madrid!"
Tough Season Compounded for Carreras

The 23-year-old Carreras has had a difficult debut season at Madrid following his €50 million ($58.5 million) transfer from Benfica in the summer.
Although only five of his teammates have logged more league minutes this season, Carreras has struggled to impress consistently, with his display in the Champions League quarterfinal first-leg loss to Bayern Munich drawing particular criticism.
The Spanish left back was subsequently omitted from the second leg in Bavaria, with Ferland Mendy remaining the first-choice option when available.
Meanwhile, 33-year-old Rüdiger's contract with Madrid is set to expire this summer, though it is widely anticipated that he will agree new terms to stay at the club for at least one more season.
