Real Madrid Star Dismisses Transfer Rumors with Laughter: "Complete Fabrication"

David Alaba has firmly denied any validity to reports suggesting he might have departed Real Madrid during the recent summer transfer period.

Being among the club's top wage earners, Alaba was frequently linked with potential exits from Madrid, where the 33-year-old seemingly ranks below Dean Huijsen, Antonio Rüdiger and Éder Militão in the defensive hierarchy under Xabi Alonso.

Currently in his contract's final year and having battled fitness issues in recent campaigns, speculation emerged that Madrid were actively seeking to move Alaba on, with recent reports even linking him to a switch to Türkiye, though the Austrian defender categorically dismissed such talk.

"I've spent enough time in football to understand that speculation comes with the territory," he stated to reporters while on international duty with Austria. "Thankfully, these are matters I don't spend much time thinking about, and I found it quite amusing because none of it held any truth.

"It was completely fabricated."

The multi-position defender recently returned to competitive action for the first time since April, featuring for 70 minutes in Austria's match against Cyprus on Saturday, while acknowledging that his extended injury problems continue to affect him.

"I'm in good shape at the moment," he confirmed. "I've been making significant improvements recently. I believe I could complete a full 90 minutes for my country, though I'm uncertain whether that would be wise.

"We'll assess how I respond in the coming fixtures. My objective is to participate and be available for selection."

Although Alaba stays committed to securing his position at Madrid, recent speculation suggests he won't receive a contract extension and may leave as a free agent when his current deal expires.
