Real Madrid Star Expresses Deep Frustration with Xabi Alonso's Actions

Real Madrid's new manager Xabi Alonso has faced criticism since his summer appointment, with reports suggesting that midfielder Dani Ceballos is particularly dissatisfied with his situation under the fresh leadership.

Issues range from Alonso's preference for high-intensity tactics that could potentially endanger key players like Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior, to his apparent disregard for experienced squad player Ceballos.

While Ceballos wasn't a regular starter during Carlo Ancelotti's tenure, the Spanish midfielder frequently featured as a substitute or rotational player in less demanding fixtures.

However, the 28-year-old was completely excluded from the Club World Cup match against Al Hilal, which according to SPORT left him feeling "deeply frustrated"—though perhaps not entirely shocked.

Despite being one of just four first-team squad members available to Alonso during his initial days as coach, while most teammates were away on international assignments, Ceballos still couldn't earn the manager's trust when Real Madrid struggled against Al Hilal.

This situation creates serious doubts about Ceballos's prospects for the 2025–26 season and whether he should consider ending his time at the Bernabéu. Notably, while the club facilitated Joselu's lucrative move to Qatar last summer, Real Madrid hasn't shown similar support for Ceballos's previous departure considerations.

Reports indicate that Ceballos's former team Real Betis remains interested in his services. However, Madrid's firm €20 million ($23.1 million) asking price is creating obstacles for Betis, who are simultaneously pursuing Antony's permanent signing after his successful loan from Manchester United, facing comparable financial challenges.

A sale at that valuation would allow Real Madrid to recover their investment and secure a small profit on Ceballos, nearly eight years after his initial move to the Spanish capital.
