Real Madrid Star Forced Out of International Action After Suffering Muscle Injury
Argentina's national squad has announced that Real Madrid's winger Franco Mastantuono will return to the Spanish capital following a muscle strain in his left thigh.
Mastantuono was among 12 Real Madrid players who left for international assignments after the club's 3–1 win against Villarreal last Saturday. The young player was expected to assist La Albiceleste in matches against Venezuela and Puerto Rico during the October international fixtures.
Following his previous assignment wearing Lionel Messi's iconic No. 10 jersey, there was considerable anticipation surrounding Mastantuono's participation in this camp. However, Lionel Scaloni must now proceed without the promising youngster, who is currently dealing with a muscular problem.
Argentina issued this official communication: "Franco Mastantuono has been ruled out for the remaining tour period due to muscular overload in his left thigh. Additionally, captain Lionel Messi will be unavailable for [Friday's] fixture."
Upon returning to Spain, Mastantuono will undergo evaluation by Real Madrid's medical team.
Real Madrid Face Dual Injury Setback During October International Window
Mastantuono isn't the only injury worry for Real Madrid, as Kylian Mbappé also presents concerns. The French star re-injured his ankle during France's 3–0 triumph over Azerbaijan and requested to be withdrawn by Didier Deschamps.
The potential absence of both Mastantuono and Mbappé would significantly impact Los Blancos' offensive capabilities. The young Argentine has featured in nine of Real Madrid's 10 fixtures this campaign, earning praise from Xabi Alonso for his inventiveness and creative contributions from the right flank.
Mbappé has netted 17 times across his previous 13 appearances for both club and national team. With upcoming Champions League action against Juventus and El Clásico scheduled within three weeks, Real Madrid will be hoping both forwards recover in time for the resumption of league play.
