Real Madrid Stars Return: Double Injury Comeback Powers Champions League Campaign Launch
Following an extended period away from action, Jude Bellingham and Eduardo Camavinga have returned to availability just in time for Real Madrid's opening Champions League fixture of the campaign.
Both players have been named in Xabi Alonso's 23-man roster for Los Blancos' encounter against Marseille on Tuesday, September 16. This represents the first occasion in the 2025–26 season that either midfielder has been considered for team selection; for Camavinga specifically, it concludes a five-month rehabilitation period.
The French midfielder was absent for the conclusion of the previous campaign and missed the complete FIFA Club World Cup following an abductor muscle injury sustained in April. Camavinga subsequently picked up an ankle problem in August, extending his time away from competitive action.
A concerning complication the previous week raised questions about the midfielder's anticipated comeback, but he has now officially received his inaugural selection under the Alonso regime, alongside Bellingham as part of a significant fitness boost for Real Madrid.
The English star's unexpected availability follows a rapid recovery from shoulder surgery during the summer break. Bellingham had initially been projected to remain unavailable until mid-October, placing the 22-year-old a full month ahead of his expected timeline.

Real Madrid will exercise prudence regarding both Camavinga and Bellingham's comebacks, aiming to gradually restore the midfielders to peak condition after their extended absences.
While neither player is expected to feature in the starting lineup against Marseille, Alonso might provide some substitute minutes to Camavinga or Bellingham should Los Blancos establish a commanding advantage. A cameo from Camavinga would represent his first appearance under the new manager.
Focus will center on Bellingham, however, should the 22-year-old make his comeback. Real Madrid have sorely felt the absence of their No. 10 orchestrating their offensive play, and few players can electrify the Santiago Bernabéu atmosphere on European evenings like Bellingham.
Los Blancos are determined to launch their 2025–26 Champions League journey positively following last season's disappointing quarterfinal elimination. The Spanish powerhouse will face pressure to secure maximum points in their opener, particularly with their supporters in attendance.
