Real Madrid's Late Season Hero Makes Stunning Serie A Switch in Confirmed Transfer
Following a dozen years with Real Madrid, Jacobo Ramón has secured a permanent transfer to Serie A club Como for the 2025–26 campaign.
Real Madrid announced the deal after finalizing terms with the Italian club, currently managed by ex-Barcelona playmaker Cesc Fàbregas. The Spanish giants said goodbye to Ramón, who arrived at the academy as an eight-year-old in 2013.
"The club wishes to express gratitude to [Ramón] for his dedication, professionalism, and loyalty throughout his tenure at Real Madrid, and extends best wishes to him and his loved ones as he embarks on this new chapter," Real Madrid stated.
Per Fabrizio Romano, Ramón departed in a transaction valued at €2.5 million ($2.9 million). Real Madrid have allegedly secured three repurchase options for the defender, alongside a 50% future sale percentage.
Ramón developed through Real Madrid's youth system, excelling in La Fábrica before advancing to Real Madrid Castilla. The Spanish defender found it challenging to establish himself in the senior squad, even during the injury-plagued 2024–25 campaign.
Previous Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti utilized Ramón just six times across two seasons, preferring to rely on fellow academy graduate Raúl Asencio instead.
Despite minimal playing time, Ramón experienced a magical moment at the Santiago Bernabéu. In only his second senior start, the 20-year-old netted a dramatic late winner against Mallorca, temporarily keeping Real Madrid's La Liga championship dreams alive before Barcelona ultimately secured the 2024–25 title.
Ramón will now reunite with former Real Madrid teammate Nico Paz at Como. The Serie A outfit placed 10th last term and aims to secure European qualification in 2025–26.
"Jacobo represents a promising young talent with excellent potential," Fàbregas commented. "He emerges from one of the world's most demanding youth systems, where he has developed his abilities, and we believe he will make a significant contribution to our squad."
