Jürgen Klopp anticipates his appointment as Germany's new head coach will be officially confirmed "within the next few days," with Red Bull acknowledging that his continued role as global soccer chief would present a conflict of interest.
Klopp has been absent from the sidelines since departing Liverpool in 2024, spending the past year and a half in a senior position within the Red Bull organization. He had previously insisted he had no intention of returning to management, but after feeling "recharged" over time, his stance has shifted.
The German football federation publicly announced negotiations with Klopp as their candidate to succeed Julian Nagelsmann, who was dismissed following the World Cup.
"Nothing is official yet," Klopp said. "But the discussions have gone well, and everything is heading in the right direction. I've come to an agreement and an arrangement with Red Bull—a very, very generous one, I must say. So, practically speaking, there are no more obstacles in the way.
"[The confirmation] should come within the next few days, ideally. After all, there are just 60 days until the next international fixture. At some point, a decision needs to be made, and it will be made."

Klopp is currently contracted with Red Bull through 2029 in a full-time capacity, overseeing all clubs within the Red Bull global network.
With no exit clause in his contract, Red Bull executive Oliver Mintzlaff was required to personally agree to release Klopp. German outlet SPORT BILD reports that there was initially little appetite for letting the former Liverpool boss go, with Mintzlaff instead proposing that Klopp remain in a brand ambassador or advisory capacity.
As talks advanced, however, all parties concluded that no such arrangement could realistically be sustained. The risk of conflict-of-interest accusations directed at both Klopp and Red Bull meant that a clean break was the only viable outcome for everyone involved.
As Klopp himself notes, there are now no remaining barriers to his swift appointment by Germany, a nation still recovering from an embarrassing World Cup exit at the hands of Paraguay in the round of 32.

Klopp will have little time to settle into his new role, as Germany return to action in September when the UEFA Nations League resumes. Die Mannschaft has been placed in Group 2 and opens their campaign against their most formidable opponent, the Netherlands, on Sept. 24.
His first home match on German soil will follow three days later against Greece at Augsburg's WWK Arena.
