Rico Lewis Shuts Down Nottingham Forest Interest as Man City Star Commits to Etihad Future

Rico Lewis is poised to secure his long-term future at Manchester City following interest from Nottingham Forest throughout the summer transfer period.
Lewis emerged into City's senior squad during their historic 2022–23 treble-winning season and has steadily increased his playing time each year. The previous campaign saw the 20-year-old feature in 44 matches across all tournaments, with 21 Premier League starts in various tactical roles.
Forest had been strongly pursuing Lewis, but according to the Daily Mail, a fresh five-year deal with City is now prepared for completion.
Earlier summer negotiations had stalled without reaching terms, but following the England international's public declaration of his commitment to remain at the Etihad Stadium over the weekend, progress rapidly resumed.
"Personally, I've never envisioned myself playing elsewhere," Lewis commented following City's dominant victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers in their season opener.

"City has always been my aspiration. It's the club of my dreams, and as you witnessed today, performing alongside these exceptional teammates elevates my game to new heights, which fills me with joy.
"Everyone seeks certainty and stability, but ultimately, the responsibility lies with me. I must deliver on the pitch and capitalize on opportunities. When I seize my moments, I succeed. When I fall short, I must work harder and improve. I featured more last season than the previous one, and this season I aim to surpass last year's appearances – that's consistently my objective, establishing myself as a key player."
Pep Guardiola simultaneously expressed his desire for Lewis to remain, and it appears his wishes will be fulfilled.
Lewis's existing contract, agreed upon after his breakthrough campaign two years ago, still has three years remaining. However, the new agreement will extend his stay until 2030.
