Riqui Puig Drops Cryptic Four-Word Bombshell About LA Galaxy Future

Is Riqui Puig approaching his much-anticipated comeback with LA Galaxy?
The 25-year-old Puig hasn't featured since the Western Conference Final during the 2024 MLS Cup Playoffs, when he sustained an ACL injury in a victory over Seattle Sounders FC, prior to Galaxy claiming their sixth MLS Cup title against the New York Red Bulls in his absence.
However, on Sunday, the Designated Player midfielder shared an enigmatic post on Instagram, stating: "Hold on, I'm coming," which could indicate his imminent return to competitive action before the 2025 campaign concludes.
Previously this year, expectations were that the ex-Barcelona talent might rejoin Galaxy's roster during the summer months and potentially contribute to their MLS Cup Playoff aspirations. Nevertheless, considering the team's disappointing performance – managing only three victories in 25 MLS matches, questions emerged about the wisdom of rushing his comeback.
Galaxy have, however, discovered some comfort this season through the 2025 Leagues Cup, securing their place among four MLS clubs advancing to the knockout stage after the field narrowed from 18 teams that competed in Phase One against Liga MX opponents.
Puig is included on Galaxy's official roster for the competition.
If his return is indeed imminent, Galaxy would be optimistic he could be match-ready for their Leagues Cup quarterfinal clash with CF Pachuca on Aug. 20 at their home venue, and possibly for subsequent rounds in that tournament, with Concacaf Champions Cup qualification at stake.
Nevertheless, Puig has resumed training with Galaxy, and the organization provided an update on July 8, sharing on Instagram that he was back practicing. Since that announcement, however, his rehabilitation progress hasn't been publicly documented, and no specific comeback date has been established.
During the previous campaign, Puig netted 13 goals and recorded 15 assists across 29 regular-season matches, serving as a crucial component of the offensive unit alongside Gabriel Pec and Joseph Paintsil, with the threesome earning the moniker "Killa Ps."
In MLS standings, Galaxy currently occupy the bottom position in the Western Conference and trail the playoff line by 16 points with nine fixtures left to play.
