Rodrygo Delivers Shocking Ultimatum to Real Madrid as Premier League Giants Circle
Rodrygo's frustration with Xabi Alonso is allegedly reaching a breaking point, as the Brazilian star considers requesting a meeting with Real Madrid regarding his current "substitute" status.
The forward has transitioned from contributing to Los Blancos' 14th and 15th Champions League victories to spending over 70 minutes on the sidelines in almost every match this campaign. Since Alonso assumed control of the Spanish club, Rodrygo has secured only four starting positions out of 22 possible opportunities.
Beyond an initial competition with Vinícius Júnior for the left-wing position, Rodrygo's choice to remain at Real Madrid instead of pursuing a Premier League transfer has backfired significantly, leading the 24-year-old to question his future in Madrid.
Per AS reports, Rodrygo maintains optimism that he can "persuade" Alonso to grant him increased minutes as the campaign unfolds. However, should his situation remain unchanged and he continues receiving only brief substitute appearances in settled contests, the Brazilian is ready to arrange discussions with management to "seek a resolution."
Rodrygo allegedly feels he "cannot justify" spending an entire season as a substitute, considering his "age and ability."
With ongoing attention from multiple Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, Rodrygo would possess alternatives should he pursue a departure, whether in January or the following summer.
Franco Mastantuono's Injury Could Lead to Rodrygo's Resurgence

During the opening three months of the 2025–26 campaign, Franco Mastantuono has emerged as Alonso's preferred choice for the right-wing position. However, the young Argentine is currently unavailable due to a groin problem, with his return date remaining unclear.
Brahim Díaz represents the logical substitute for Mastantuono, yet he has struggled to make his mark this season; across 13 outings, the Moroccan player has managed only a single goal.
This situation creates an opportunity for Rodrygo to potentially reclaim his starting position on the right side. While he has expressed his desire to feature in his preferred left-wing role, the attacker has a stronger likelihood of earning a place in Real Madrid's starting eleven by returning to his previous right-flank duties.
Nevertheless, Rodrygo must deliver impressive performances to climb Alonso's hierarchy. The 24-year-old has failed to score in official competition for Los Blancos since March of last year.
