Rosenior Stuns Fans with Surprise Goalkeeper Shake-Up Ahead of Newcastle Clash
Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior has selected Robert Sánchez as his first-choice keeper for Saturday's clash against Newcastle United, with Filip Jörgensen completely omitted from the matchday roster.
Sánchez held the number one position when Rosenior took charge in January, but following several mistakes, he was dropped for the previous two fixtures in favor of Jörgensen, who subsequently suffered his own costly blunders against Paris Saint-Germain in Champions League action.
Faced with the dilemma of choosing his first-choice shot-stopper, Rosenior has decided to bring Sánchez back into the starting lineup for Saturday's encounter with Newcastle.
Jörgensen hasn't been included in the matchday roster, with sources suggesting a groin problem is the reason for his exclusion. Young keeper Teddy Sharman-Lowe takes his place among the substitutes.

Rosenior: No Discussions About First-Choice Keeper
Rosenior: No Discussions About First-Choice Keeper

Former Danish goalkeeper legend Peter Schmeichel recently made the unexpected assertion that he had learned of a discussion between Rosenior and his keepers, claiming that Jörgensen had been explicitly told he was now the established starter.
When asked to confirm these allegations, Rosenior stated during his pre-match media briefing: "I haven't told either goalkeeper privately who holds the No. 1 spot and who doesn't. I've communicated areas where they need development and aspects where they've excelled.
"I've never had a discussion with a keeper stating 'you're my first choice.'"
The Chelsea head coach continued: "Looking at history and most successful clubs, whether it's the goalkeeper role, a striker position, those jerseys are secured through form, those positions are won through displays.
"[Consider] Petr Čech, at this club, as a goalkeeper. When Petr Čech arrived here he was a very young keeper, similar to [Thibaut] Courtois. They secured their opportunities through performances and built their standing through the displays they delivered on the field.
"I want rivalry in every position across the pitch. The only distinction with a goalkeeper is you're one error away from this scenario, whether Rob commits a mistake against Arsenal that results in a goal or not, or Filip makes an error against PSG, it leads to a goal or not.
"Due to the nature of the goalkeeper role, it receives more attention. I'm going to provide every squad member a chance to demonstrate what they can contribute to win immediately but also what they can offer long-term which is to achieve success consistently over time. And both keepers in different aspects are displaying really, really positive qualities."
