Ruben Amorim Declares Man Utd His "Only Club" as Transfer Rumors Swirl Around Star Manager
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim declared that the Red Devils would continue to be his "sole club" following intense rumors about his possible exit in recent weeks, whether through resignation, dismissal, or being recruited by Benfica.
With the Lisbon club approaching presidential elections next month, frontrunner João Noronha Lopes was reportedly interested in bringing Amorim aboard. Noronha Lopes's proposed vice-president Nuno Gomes publicly stated: "One thing I'm certain of, Ruben Amorim will coach Benfica someday."
That possibility has been postponed by the club's unexpected choice to appoint José Mourinho. When asked about his legendary countryman's hiring, Amorim used the moment to separate himself from Benfica and any other potential employers.
"We'll observe from here to see what unfolds," he shared with DAZN, "but our attention remains solely on Manchester United, and this will be my exclusive club."

Amorim hasn't always been this definitive about his Old Trafford prospects. Just three weeks prior, the 40-year-old candidly acknowledged: "At times I consider leaving, at times I envision staying here for two decades."
That choice to remain might well be removed from Amorim's control considering United's deeply disappointing campaign start. Senior club officials are believed to still support the Portuguese manager—though whether this demonstrates confidence in his systematic approach or hesitation to pay the reported £12 million ($16.3 million) dismissal fee remains uncertain.
Before Saturday's crucial triumph over Chelsea, Amorim expressed optimism about his long-term United tenure. "Following one year of experience at this club, it's difficult to envision what the next 12 [months] will bring. [But] I anticipate remaining here. That's the primary point," he shared with Sky Sports.
"I anticipate performing exceptionally well between the penalty areas and excelling in the boxes. I anticipate building momentum that naturally leads to victories at this football club. Winning matches—not necessarily trophies—winning matches should be standard. I anticipate achieving that within 12 months. However, as you observe, we must approach this day by day. Therefore, I anticipate being here in 12 months."
