Ruben Amorim Explains Man Utd's Massive Investment in "Obsession" Target Benjamin Sesko

Ruben Amorim highlights Benjamin Sesko's "dedication" and "exceptional talent" as crucial reasons behind Manchester United's decision to pay RB Leipzig a fee reaching £73.7 million ($99.9 million) for the striker's transfer.
The Slovenian forward's move to Old Trafford has created significant buzz, adding further strength to an attack that has already been enhanced by the signings of Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha from Brentford and Wolverhampton Wanderers respectively.
Together, this trio has cost United approximately £200 million when including potential add-ons and performance-related payments, with each player viewed as fundamental to the club's long-term plans. While Mbeumo and Cunha are both 26 years old, Šeško recently celebrated his 22nd birthday in May.
Amorim is anticipated to include all three players in his starting eleven for United's season opener against Arsenal, creating enormous excitement among supporters as they welcome a new chapter—the 2025–26 season will mark their first complete campaign under the Portuguese manager's guidance.
Šeško will inherit the goalscoring responsibilities from Rasmus Højlund, who may still depart the club before the September 1 transfer deadline following interest from AC Milan, though Amorim expresses strong belief that his new acquisition possesses all the necessary qualities to thrive in the Premier League.
"I believe he demonstrates exceptional ability in all aspects of his game," Amorim shared with Man Utd's official channels. "He's capable of adapting to various playing styles. The Premier League's intensity will be a learning experience for him, but his talent is undeniable and I envision Ben serving as Manchester United's striker for many seasons to come.

"That's precisely why we invested such a substantial amount - to secure a striker who will create his legacy at our club."
Regarding Šeško's character and determination to excel, he added: "This player constantly thinks about football. He's truly passionate about the game and that's beneficial because you don't need to worry about that aspect with such a young talent.
"I don't have to remind Ben, 'this is Manchester United, there's immense pressure, you must deliver, you need to prepare for the physical demands, every match is crucial'.
"With this player, I don't have those worries. Actually, it's the opposite - [he needs to] relax a bit! He's attentive, and he's eager to succeed, which is truly positive."
Šeško found the net 27 times in Bundesliga action for Leipzig across 64 matches, contributing an additional 12 goals in domestic cup and European competitions during his two-year stint in Germany. In comparison, Højlund has managed only 14 Premier League goals during his two seasons at United, while also adding 12 goals in other tournaments.
