Ruben Amorim Makes Unwanted History as Man Utd's Struggles Deepen

Ruben Amorim finds himself with yet another disappointing milestone following Manchester United's 1-0 loss to Arsenal.
The 40-year-old manager has now suffered 15 defeats in his 28 Premier League games managing Manchester United. This achievement marks Amorim as the quickest boss to reach such a number of losses, excluding those managing newly promoted sides, in the past 16 years.
Paul Hart is the manager whose record Amorim has now matched in Premier League history. The English coach experienced 15 defeats in his initial 27 games managing Portsmouth during 2009.
Even the revolving door of managers at Manchester United throughout the past decade failed to come close to Hart's dismal statistics. Amorim, however, has managed to secure only seven victories since assuming control of the club in November.

Despite the team's disastrous 2024-25 campaign, hopes were elevated for Amorim's revamped roster following the acquisitions of Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Šeško. Nevertheless, Manchester United began their 2025-26 Premier League season without earning any points.
The home side arguably merited more from their display at Old Trafford. Manchester United controlled the ball, registered 22 attempts on David Raya's goal and were generally the superior side throughout the match.
An error from Altay Bayındır in the 13th minute proved decisive, however, ultimately allowing Arsenal to return to north London with maximum points. The keeper couldn't handle Declan Rice's curling corner kick that Riccardo Calafiori subsequently converted with a header.
Amorim must now tackle the task of helping his squad recover from the deflating season opener before their upcoming match against Fulham this weekend. Beginning 2025-26 with consecutive league losses would spell catastrophe for a club that invested £197.2 million ($230 million) during the summer transfer window.
This would also continue the manager's troubling streak in the Premier League, adding further unwelcome records to Amorim's tenure.
