Saliba Drops Bombshell: Arsenal Star Declares War on Trophy Drought with Quadruple Ambition
Arsenal defender William Saliba has expressed confidence that his team can pursue all four major trophies this campaign, while emphasizing to his colleagues that their legacy depends on securing silverware.
The Gunners found themselves atop the Premier League standings during the festive period for the third occasion in four seasons, yet they continue seeking to cross the finish line and claim the title under Mikel Arteta's guidance. While the Spanish manager has done excellent work at the club, his trophy collection remains limited to just the 2019–20 FA Cup triumph.
A frequent critique of this Arsenal squad has been their apparent struggle to finish the job, though Saliba anticipates this will shift during the current campaign. Beyond their league-leading position, the North London club also tops their Champions League group, has advanced to the Carabao Cup final four, and ranks among the top contenders for FA Cup glory.
No English team has ever achieved the Quadruple—while Manchester United (1998–99) and Manchester City (2022–23) have each secured the Treble—but Saliba acknowledged he's allowing himself to envision making history.
"Absolutely [Arsenal could claim multiple titles], because we understand that in each tournament we enter, we believe we can emerge victorious," Saliba emphasized.
"We have come close in the Premier League during the previous three campaigns, and last term we reached the Champions League and Carabao Cup semi-finals, so we're confident we can triumph in any competition."
Saliba: Time for Arsenal to Prove Their Dominance
Arsenal have rightfully established themselves as among Europe's elite clubs, but according to Saliba, reputation means nothing without results.
The French defender wasn't involved in that FA Cup success five seasons ago and has only two Community Shield medals in his collection. Capturing major honors was a key factor in his decision to extend his stay with the Gunners last September.
"We must demonstrate that through our performances and begin collecting trophies immediately," Saliba declared.
"We've reached the Carabao Cup semi-finals, leaving just three matches between us and the title, and we must deliver in January against Chelsea. It promises to be a massive encounter, a significant derby, so we must maintain our momentum. We recognize we're close and must apply the lessons learned from the previous season.
"When your playing days end, people remember your trophy haul, and the Carabao Cup represents one such prize—now that we've made the semi-final, we naturally want to capture this tournament, just like every other competition we enter."
