Sesko Delivers Stunning Heroics as Man Utd Crush Everton in Spectacular Redemption

Following almost a fortnight away, Manchester United made their Premier League comeback in style, claiming a 1–0 victory against Everton on Monday night.

Michael Carrick's squad wasn't at their peak performance at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, but a brilliant moment from Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo created the opportunity for Benjamin Šeško to clinch all three points with a single strike from his right boot. The decisive goal arrived just 13 minutes following the forward's introduction to the match.

This triumph returns Man Utd to their winning form following their stumble against West Ham, positioning the squad merely three points behind third-placed Aston Villa. The outcome also continues the Red Devils' undefeated streak under their fresh manager to six Premier League fixtures.

The three points will be particularly satisfying considering the club's disappointing 1–0 loss to a weakened Everton in the earlier meeting.

For the second straight fixture, Man Utd's offensive unit was desperately needing a game-changer. Everton's backline kept Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo practically quiet for more than sixty minutes, Amad Diallo showed insufficient sharpness in the attacking zone and Bruno Fernandes found himself retreating deep just to touch the ball.

Yet again, Carrick turned to Benjamin Šeško's abilities from the substitutes' bench to provide his squad with a vital boost. The summer acquisition took Amad's place in the 58th minute and within 13 minutes, he delivered the winning strike for his team.

Cunha's pass from well within his own territory to release a charging Mbeumo merits most of the praise, but Šeško still needed to cover the field's length and complete the expertly executed counter-attack—which he accomplished with composure.

The 22-year-old has now emerged as Man Utd's savior in three of their previous four matches, earning seven of the Red Devils' most recent 10 points through substitute goals. Carrick may soon need to reassess his attacking setup and consider whether Šeško merits a return to the starting lineup.

*Ratings provided by FotMob*

GK: Senne Lammens—8.4: Faced minimal action until Everton increased pressure in the final moments. Remained composed and resolute, producing crucial stops during added time.

RB: Diogo Dalot—7.9: Attempted overly elaborate plays occasionally, but delivered a generally strong performance. Could have been more effective when given space on the right wing.

CB: Leny Yoro—7.2: Found his rhythm after an anxious beginning. Nevertheless, supporters will be anticipating Lisandro Martínez's comeback.

CB: Harry Maguire—7.7: A relatively quiet match for the center-back, which suited him fine. Made forward runs when needed to energize his team's offense.

LB: Luke Shaw—6.9: Managed a challenging duel with Iliman Ndiaye adequately. Found it difficult to connect with Cunha on the left side.

DM: Casemiro—7.8: Unusually sloppy with possession. Turnovers, wayward passes and puzzling errors characterized his display, despite what the stats might suggest.

DM: Kobbie Mainoo—6.9: Displayed attacking moments, but perhaps wasn't the ideal player to receive the ball during crucial final third situations. Neat with possession.

RW: Amad Diallo—6.9: Performed excellently when tracking back defensively, but lacked sharpness in attack. Couldn't capitalize on his explosive speed against Jarrad Branthwaite.

AM: Bruno Fernandes—6.7: Far from his most impactful showing. Compelled to retreat deep for involvement throughout most of the game and failed to create any opportunities.

LW: Matheus Cunha—6.9: Devoted considerable time to fitness work. To be fair, he received poor service from teammates. Ultimately took initiative and engineered the match's sole goal with an exceptional pass from deep within his own territory.

ST: Bryan Mbeumo—7.4: Nearly invisible during the opening half, but emerged when it counted most. Utilized his speed to reach Cunha's long pass and delivered the perfect assist for Šeško's finish.

SUB: Benjamin Šeško (58' for Amad)—7.3: Another impressive substitute appearance. Netted the match's only goal and likely should have added a second during stoppage time.

SUB: Noussair Mazraoui (68' for Mbeumo)—6.0: Entered to strengthen the team's defensive structure and accomplished exactly that.

SUB: Ayden Heaven (95' for Cunha)—N/A

Subs not used: Altay Bayındır (GK), Tyrell Malacia, Jack Moorhouse, Manuel Ugarte, Tyler Fletcher, Joshua Zirkzee.
