Seven Blockbuster Transfers Still Up for Grabs This Summer

The transfer window has closed for many of Europe's premier leagues, but activity continues across other parts of the continent and globally.
While the major European leagues have shut their doors, windows remain active in Portugal, Turkey, Mexico, and Saudi Arabia among other nations. Consequently, Premier League and La Liga clubs cannot acquire new signings, though they may still offload existing players.
Several players failed to secure departures from Europe's elite leagues during the summer window, but opportunities still exist. Time remains available, though their potential destination options have diminished.
Here are seven players who might still leave their current clubs this summer.
Emiliano Martínez

Emiliano Martínez seemed to bid farewell to Aston Villa fans at last season's conclusion, but now faces the prospect of an uncomfortable return after failing to secure a summer transfer.
The double Yashin Trophy recipient came close to joining Manchester United late in the window, but their acquisition of Senne Lammens instead has left Martínez in limbo. He must either rejoin the Villa squad or pursue a move before other global deadlines expire.
Martínez has previously been connected with Saudi Arabian clubs and could remain a target for top Saudi Pro League teams. Though he reportedly showed little interest in Middle Eastern moves earlier this summer, circumstances may force him to reconsider his position.
Turkish giants Galatasaray continue their goalkeeper search following their unsuccessful Ederson pursuit, presenting another potential destination for Martínez.
André Onana

Unlike his goalkeeper counterpart Martínez, André Onana showed no desire for a summer transfer. The Cameroon keeper remains satisfied at Manchester United despite constant scrutiny, but Lammens' arrival threatens his position in the hierarchy.
Onana has been benched for Altay Bayındır in all three Premier League fixtures this season, only appearing in the embarrassing Carabao Cup defeat to League Two side Grimsby Town. His restoration as first-choice remains uncertain.
Onana might consider moves to Turkey or Saudi Arabia before their September deadlines if opportunities arise for the 29-year-old. Nevertheless, his Manchester United prospects appear dim.
Tyrell Malacia

Tyrell Malacia remains the sole member of Manchester United's unwanted group who hasn't departed Old Trafford this summer, watching teammates Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho and Antony secure exits. Currently, the left-back finds himself in an uncertain position.
He seemed destined to leave late in the window through a loan arrangement with Spanish club Elche, but negotiations for the temporary move collapsed. With first-team opportunities unlikely at Old Trafford, Malacia should seek new opportunities while possible, and United will want to remove his wages from their books promptly.
Raheem Sterling

Raheem Sterling's disappointing Arsenal loan stint has further damaged his reputation, and a permanent Chelsea departure seemed inevitable this summer. However, substantial interest failed to materialize, with Fulham among clubs linked but ultimately choosing different targets.
A domestic English move appeared most probable for Sterling given his lack of overseas experience, but he may now need to explore foreign options to secure playing time before January's window.
With Chelsea reportedly paying Sterling £325,000 weekly, their inability to move him represents a significant financial burden.
Axel Disasi

Axel Disasi's Chelsea tenure has proven largely unsuccessful. The £39 million Monaco signing quickly fell down the pecking order under Enzo Maresca's management, spending last season's latter half on loan at Aston Villa.
Villa declined to make Disasi's move permanent, while connections to Bournemouth and former club Monaco produced no concrete results. Chelsea continues paying his £40,000 weekly salary unless they can place him with Turkish or Portuguese clubs.
No clubs currently show strong interest in recruiting Disasi, though Saudi Arabia could provide Chelsea with a late solution through a defender bid.
Yves Bissouma

Yves Bissouma has been marginalized since Thomas Frank's Tottenham Hotspur appointment, with the Mali midfielder excluded from the club's Champions League league phase squad.
Despite not selling him to major European leagues this summer, Spurs retain hope of moving the midfielder. Reports suggest Bissouma could depart imminently amid Turkish and Saudi Arabian interest, with his north London contract expiring next summer.
Tottenham desperately wants to capitalize on his value while possible, even if the transfer fee proves modest.
Jamaal Lascelles

Malick Thiaw's arrival has pushed injury-plagued Jamaal Lascelles deeper into St James's Park shadows, with the center-back yet to feature for Newcastle United this season—though he made the bench for the recent scoreless Leeds United draw.
According to The Athletic, Newcastle might permit Lascelles' departure this summer despite England's closed deadline, given their abundant defensive depth.
Finding a suitable destination presents challenges, particularly given Lascelles' lower profile compared to other departing Premier League players, but the 31-year-old could still relocate soon.
