Slip-Up Revealed: New Teammate Accidentally Exposes Casemiro's Next Destination After Man Utd Exit

Inter Miami attacker Telasco Segovia accidentally let slip that Casemiro would be joining him in South Florida, stating with notable confidence: "I know Casemiro is coming."

Manchester United's midfield anchor has experienced a career resurgence at Old Trafford this season. Following a slide into ridicule during the difficult 2023–24 campaign, Casemiro has undergone a remarkable personal revival, recapturing the form that helped him claim five Champions League trophies with Real Madrid.

The 34-year-old's performances have been so outstanding that United supporters and several squad members have publicly called for "one more year" of his contributions. Those appeals have gone unheeded as Casemiro heads toward free agency and, as numerous reports have suggested, a switch to MLS. Now there has been some premature — and unintended — confirmation that his destination will be Miami.

Speaking to a group of reporters, Miami forward Segovia reaffirmed his ambition to play in Europe at some stage in his career after sharing the training pitch with some of the finest players the continent has ever produced. Lionel Messi's club teammate is now set to welcome another elite name to the squad. "I know Casemiro is coming — he's a great player," Segovia let slip, as reported by Olé.

In a lukewarm attempt to walk back his comments, the 23-year-old continued: "If he does arrive, he's absolutely welcome; he'll contribute a great deal to the team, and I think he's going to give us so much."

Segovia's slip is not entirely surprising. Recent reports have indicated that Miami are on the verge of finalizing Casemiro's formal agreement after edging out MLS rivals LA Galaxy, who are believed to have had several contract proposals turned down by the highly sought-after Brazilian. Nevertheless, the accidental disclosure now allows fans to envision Casemiro donning a pink shirt with greater confidence.

When Could Casemiro Makes His Inter Miami Debut?

Like every MLS side, Inter Miami will go on hiatus during the World Cup. Following Sunday's fixture against Philadelphia Union at Nu Stadium, the Herons won't return to action until July 22, when Chicago Fire visit.

Should Casemiro's Brazil advance all the way to the World Cup final on July 19, it's unlikely he will feature in that home match against the Fire. The veteran midfielder has been given a rest for United's final Premier League fixture to best prepare for the upcoming tournament — expected to be his last with Brazil — and will require adequate recovery time after completing a full European club season that kicked off back in August.

United have faced an unusually sparse fixture list owing to their recent struggles. The absence of European competition, combined with two early cup eliminations, meant the Red Devils occasionally went three weeks without a match. Nevertheless, at this stage of his career, Casemiro's physical conditioning cannot be hurried, particularly given his potential significance to Inter Miami.

Since Sergio Busquets' retirement, the defending MLS Cup champions have proven alarmingly vulnerable. Miami have conceded a division-leading eight goals from counterattacks across just 14 league matches this season. Casemiro's primary task will be to tighten up that exposed defensive core.
