Son Heung-min Breaks Silence on LAFC Future as Transfer Speculation Swirls
Son Heung-min has no intentions of seeking club football opportunities outside of LAFC and Major League Soccer before the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
As LAFC approaches the conclusion of their campaign, speculation emerged that the South Korean icon might consider alternative options to maintain match fitness before the 2026 MLS season kicks off in February.
Son dismissed these reports while representing the South Korean national squad during the November international break, stating "the speculation is false," in a conversation with South Korean media outlet OSEN (via Chosun).
"Many individuals are interested, the speculation itself is bothersome. Supporters must also feel uncertain. My philosophy and approach have consistently been that dedicating everything to the club I represent is paramount. The speculation is false," he stated. "I have never once considered transferring to a different club during the winter period. Even discussing such possibilities could show disrespect to LAFC. I can verify it is untrue."
Star-Studded Playoff Showdown Set in Western Conference

LAFC has between one and three fixtures left in the MLS campaign, as they prepare for the Western Conference semifinals in the MLS Cup playoffs against Thomas Müller's Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Nov. 22.
More than 55,000 supporters are anticipated to witness the 13th-ever encounter between Son and Müller, with the victorious side securing passage to face either San Diego FC or Minnesota United in the Western Conference final.
"Departing the club I represent to join another is an undertaking in itself," Son continued. "I could sustain an injury. Committing everything to the team I am with shows respect for my mental wellbeing, physical condition, and the club's supporters. It is the most crucial aspect."
Son Focused on MLS, World Cup

Since making his LAFC debut in August, Son has netted nine goals and provided four assists across 12 appearances. He established an effective combination with fellow winger Denis Bouanga, who placed second behind only Lionel Messi in the MLS Golden Boot competition.
Prior to meeting the Whitecaps on Nov. 22, Son is scheduled to represent South Korea against Bolivia on Nov. 14 and Ghana on Nov. 18, as the national squad continues preparations for the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
"I am concentrating on recovering during the winter and getting ready for the World Cup," he concluded. "I want to establish the optimal conditions to prepare for the World Cup. I hope such speculation does not emerge again. I respect and value the LAFC organization."
