Son Heung-min Transforms LAFC with Stunning MLS Debut—'Enjoying Every Moment' of His Seamless Transition

Son Heung-min has quickly adapted to his new environment, though he's yet to play a home fixture with LAFC.
This past Saturday, the Korean sensation participated in his second MLS appearance, guiding LAFC to a commanding 2–0 victory away against the New England Revolution, marking his inaugural start following his reported $26 million transfer to the club.
His opening appearance saw him earn a penalty kick that Denis Bouanga converted during a 2–2 stalemate with Chicago Fire, but against the Revolution, he registered an assist in a display that echoed his finest Premier League performances.
"I'm savoring each day and every moment, particularly when securing an away victory," the ex-Tottenham Hotspur skipper commented post-match. "The satisfaction is even greater, and I'm relishing every instant. With numerous fixtures approaching, I must prepare thoroughly and find even more enjoyment."
Despite initial uncertainty about his role within LAFC's system, he has operated as a forward in both appearances, utilizing explosive runs to penetrate defensive structures and generate opportunities for both himself and his colleagues.
During the Revolution encounter, his performance was commanding. Beyond creating four scoring chances, he secured his maiden goal contribution in the closing stages, sprinting from midfield before providing Canadian international Mathieu Choiniére with a straightforward tap-in finish.
Son Creates Major Impact for LAFC, 'Simplifies Everything'
Previously, his link-up play facilitated a spectacular strike from MLS veteran Mark Delgado, who netted the opener.
"Collaborating with him simply flows better; he simplifies everything for everyone on the field, and since joining the organization, he's been incredible with the entire squad," Choinière shared with media. "He's someone who maintains constant positivity and is approachable, sharing his wisdom with us, which has been fantastic.
"When he speaks, everyone pays attention, and he's been tremendous for the squad."
LAFC's improvement has been noticeable whenever Son takes the field, as he pushes forward through rapid transitions and overwhelms opposing defenses with his abilities, while linking effectively with Bouanga's speed on the flank.
However, beyond his on-field contributions during these early appearances, he has elevated LAFC's profile to unprecedented levels, with K-pop artist Jungwon wearing his jersey during a Los Angeles concert, and thousands more being purchased, establishing it as one of the globe's most sought-after shirts.
"He delivers joy to training daily, which I consider crucial in my profession," LAFC manager Steve Cherundolo stated. "You receive an enthusiastic player, an extremely driven individual, an effective team communicator, plus his technical skills, pace, finishing ability, and accumulated experience from years of competition."
Though LAFC and Son have another away fixture against FC Dallas on August 23rd before his anticipated home debut on August 31st versus San Diego FC, his integration has been flawless. Currently, they pursue additional success and aim to climb above their present fifth position in the Western Conference standings, as Son continues adapting while pursuing his inaugural goal.
"You simply draw energy from one another, absorbing his enthusiasm too. Sonny possesses the proper mindset," Delgado noted. "Prior to Sonny's arrival, we experienced considerable inconsistency, but I believe his addition will unite everything cohesively."
