Son Heung-min's Heartbreaking Goodbye: "Always in my Pictures" as Spurs Star Bids Emotional Farewell

Son Heung-min has delivered a heartfelt goodbye to Tottenham Hotspur as his groundbreaking move to LAFC awaits official confirmation.

Son wrapped up a complete ten-year stint as a Tottenham player and made history as the club's first skipper in 17 years to secure silverware last season after the Europa League triumph. However, he has recently chosen to embrace a fresh opportunity, selecting Major League Soccer and Los Angeles for the twilight phase of his playing days.

The 33-year-old South Korean superstar is set to become MLS's most costly acquisition ever, with his switch to California worth $26.5 million (£19.8 million).

Prior to his official presentation in LAFC colors, Son wished to offer his farewells to Tottenham.

Through a video statement that opened with "Dear Spurs fans," he shared the profound impact the club has had on his life.

"You're always in my pictures," Son expressed, alluding to his iconic camera celebration gesture.

"You embraced me in north London, you witnessed my development.

"You remained loyal to me and I remained loyal to you.

"I never envisioned leading this team, but I always hoped I would secure something for you."

Boasting 173 goals and 453 matches in his record, Son claimed both the FIFA Puskás Award and the Premier League Golden Boot during his Tottenham tenure. He guided the team to the 2019 Champions League final and, in 2024, FourFourTwo magazine declared him the finest Asian footballer in history.

"Sonny stands among the most exceptional players to don the iconic Lilywhite jersey and has provided entertainment throughout the last decade," Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy stated in an official club announcement.

"Beyond being a remarkably talented footballer, he represents an extraordinary individual who has moved hearts and motivated people across the club and globally.

"The Europa League victory in Bilbao marked a genuinely enchanting chapter in the club's story and Sonny raising the trophy serves as an ideal enduring image from his remarkable decade at Tottenham Hotspur.

"Sonny has contributed immensely to this institution, both during matches and beyond, and we remain eternally thankful. We extend our best wishes for his future endeavors, and he will forever be welcomed back to the club as a treasured and valued member of our Spurs community."
