South American Powerhouse Makes Stunning Managerial Offer to Jurgen Klopp

Flamengo's president Luiz Eduardo Baptista has declared that the club would contemplate appointing a top European coach such as Jürgen Klopp if their current manager Filipe Luís decides to leave.

Although the former Chelsea defender and present Flamengo coach Luís extended his contract with the Brazilian giants last December, he has been rumored to be considering a European opportunity. Baptista is confident the club could attract a high-profile replacement, pointing to Lucas Paquetá's recent transfer from West Ham United to Flamengo as an example.

"Filipe isn't contemplating Flamengo's future a decade ahead," the Flamengo president stated to AS. "His professional journey may continue with Flamengo, or it may not.

"Just as Filipe might contemplate Europe, why shouldn't Flamengo contemplate a European manager? If I can secure Lucas Paquetá, why wouldn't I be able to secure Klopp?"

Klopp has remained away from management since departing Liverpool following the 2023–24 campaign but continues to be associated with prestigious positions.

Klopp has returned to football, though not as a sideline manager. The renowned former Borussia Dortmund coach assumed the role of Red Bull's Head of Global Soccer in January 2025—a decision that sparked criticism and controversy given the company's ownership of numerous clubs worldwide, something Klopp had previously opposed

Considerable speculation has emerged linking Klopp with a managerial comeback, with reports even suggesting Real Madrid's interest in the charismatic 58-year-old.

Xabi Alonso's exit as Madrid's manager during this season has led to persistent connections with Europe's top coaches, including Klopp. Nevertheless, currently, the club has placed confidence in Álvaro Arbeloa, the former Real Madrid Castilla coach.

Klopp is viewed as one of the potential candidates for the coaching role in the future, though whether he would have interest in joining the Bernabéu remains uncertain.

Klopp has acknowledged he currently has no interest in returning to coaching, though he hasn't completely dismissed the possibility of a future return.

"I'm passionate about my current role," Klopp shared last October. "I don't long for coaching. I really don't. I do provide guidance but it's different—it's not with players.

"I don't miss it. I don't miss standing in harsh weather for two-and-a-half or three hours. I also don't miss attending press conferences three times weekly. Having 10 or 12 interviews weekly, I don't miss that either. I don't. I don't miss being in the locker room. I managed approximately 1,080 matches so I spent considerable time in dressing rooms.

"I don't want my career to end in the locker room. It's those kinds of considerations. I'm 58. From your viewpoint that might seem old, but from other angles, it's not particularly old.

"That means I might make a choice in several years. I'm uncertain. Must I decide today? I won't coach again, but fortunately I don't need to make that commitment, I can simply see what lies ahead."
