Spain has reclaimed its status as world champions.
In a fiercely competitive match Sunday at MetLife Stadium, Spain edged out Argentina 1–0 to claim their first World Cup crown since 2010. With neither side able to break the deadlock through 90 minutes, Spain's Ferran Torres delivered the decisive goal in the 106th minute of extra time.
Take a look at the finest photos from Sports Illustrated photographers Erick W. Rasco and Simon Bruty, who were present in New Jersey to document the most significant soccer match of the past four years.
