Tottenham Hotspur have officially completed the permanent signing of Sávio, the winger previously known as Savinho, in a blockbuster deal totaling $116 million (£85 million at the time of the agreement).

The Brazilian attacker showed glimpses of his talent at Manchester City without ever truly hitting his stride. Over 53 Premier League outings, Sávio managed to score just two goals.

That squad has been assembled at a remarkable cost which, following this latest addition, now exceeds $420 million, making it one of the most lavish expenditures in a single transfer window ever recorded.

While Tottenham do hold the distinction of becoming only the fourth club to ever exceed a total spend of $400 million in a single summer, they still fall short of matching the outlay of certain Premier League rivals—at least for now.
