Szoboszlai Erupts in Praise as Alexander-Arnold Delivers Stunning Free Kick Masterclass

Dominik Szoboszlai couldn't resist referencing his ex-Liverpool colleague Trent Alexander-Arnold following his spectacular match-winning strike against Arsenal.

When it appeared Liverpool would settle for just one point against the Gunners, Szoboszlai unleashed a magnificent 32-yard free-kick that struck the inside of the post before finding the net. The 83rd-minute decisive goal ignited the Anfield crowd in red as the Reds secured what became their opening significant triumph in the 2025–26 Premier League championship campaign.

Szoboszlai emerged as the match hero, not solely due to his strike. The 24-year-old excelled in Arne Slot's improvised right-back role, effectively neutralizing Gabriel Martinelli, who failed to register even one attempt during his 70-minute appearance.

Following the 1–0 victory over Arsenal, Szoboszlai addressed reporters regarding his outstanding display and acknowledged Alexander-Arnold.

"I had belief in my ability, so I attempted [the free kick] and, yes, at last," Szoboszlai commented. "It's been quite some time [in the making]. When you train constantly.

"Now, honestly, I must credit Trent because as everyone knows, he handled the free kicks since he obviously possesses an incredible strike. But, yes, finally I received my opportunity," he concluded.

Throughout many seasons, Alexander-Arnold served as Liverpool's main free-kick specialist, netting some of his most unforgettable goals in the red jersey. The England star then departed Merseyside this summer to sign with Real Madrid, creating space for Szoboszlai to assume responsibility in his place.

The Hungarian delivered when the moment arrived, blasting home one of the finest strikes of the early Premier League campaign thus far. Alexander-Arnold, conversely, remains without his inaugural La Liga goal involvement.

Szoboszlai will have the chance to meet his former colleague face-to-face when Liverpool welcome Real Madrid in the Champions League group stage on Nov. 4.
