Dominik Szoboszlai has helped cool transfer speculation ahead of the summer window by declaring his commitment to Liverpool, with Real Madrid reportedly keeping tabs on his contract status at Anfield.
Szoboszlai has been Liverpool's most impressive performer during a deeply frustrating 2025–26 season that had raised high expectations. The club has endured a dismal Premier League title defense, and only an improbable run to Champions League glory will offer Arne Slot's squad any redemption.
On Saturday, Liverpool were knocked out of the FA Cup at the quarterfinal stage after a crushing 4–0 loss to Manchester City, following which Szoboszlai called out his teammates' mentality and admitted the Reds were nowhere to be found at the Etihad Stadium.
Nevertheless, Szoboszlai remains loyal to the Merseyside club and appears unswayed, for now, by the appeal of Los Blancos—unlike, it seems, his Chelsea counterpart Enzo Fernández.
Szoboszlai Reaffirms Liverpool Love

Transfer speculation surrounding Szoboszlai has largely stemmed from the midfielder's contract circumstances. His current agreement runs until 2028, but his performances over the last couple of seasons make a well-rewarded extension well justified.
Mohamed Salah's anticipated departure means Liverpool will have greater flexibility in talks with Szoboszlai's representatives, with the Hungarian set to become one of the club's top earners.
And while rumors about his future are unlikely to fade until Szoboszlai puts pen to paper, the 25-year-old has reaffirmed his affection for Liverpool in a conversation with the Liverpool Echo.
"I love being here," he said. "My family is happy, I love the club, I love the fans, I love to play for this club and that is it."
Connections to Madrid have remained loose, but Hungary head coach Marco Rossi stirred anxiety among Liverpool fans back in February when he revealed that Szoboszlai "dreams" of someday representing the La Liga powerhouse.
That day does not appear to be on the horizon anytime soon.
Midfield Alternatives for Madrid This Summer?

Reports of Real Madrid chasing Szoboszlai have been largely speculative, but Los Blancos are widely anticipated to reshape their midfield this summer.
They have yet to fully address the departures of Toni Kroos and Luka Modrić, though Aurélien Tchouaméni has developed well this season. Young academy product Thiago Pitarch has also made a notable breakthrough in recent months.
Madrid, who are expected to exercise their buy-back option on Nico Paz from Como, appear to have no shortage of eager candidates. Chelsea's Moisés Caicedo is the latest to publicly express his admiration for the 15-time European champions, joining teammate Fernández and Rodri in that regard.
Fernández's public questioning of his future at Chelsea prompted Liam Rosenior to take action, handing him a two-game suspension, while Pep Guardiola has indicated he will not block Rodri from leaving if Madrid come calling this summer.
