Szoboszlai's Agent Fires Back as Wirtz Eyes His Liverpool Spot

Dominik Szoboszlai's representatives show no concern regarding a potential reduction in playing time at Liverpool following the arrival of record-breaking acquisition Florian Wirtz.
Wirtz has established himself as the most costly transfer in both Liverpool's history and British football overall, with his move from Bayer Leverkusen reaching a value of £116 million ($159 million).
The German star possesses the flexibility to operate in multiple offensive positions, though he's predominantly recognized as an attacking midfielder operating in the number 10 role. This was precisely the position where Szoboszlai featured most regularly under Arne Slot during the 2024–25 campaign. While he previously operated in a deeper number 8 role under Jürgen Klopp's guidance, Slot opted to deploy Ryan Gravenberch alongside Alexis Mac Allister in that partnership instead.
In an interview with Hungarian media outlet m4sport, Szoboszlai's representative, Mátyás Esterházy, stated he is "neither concerned nor bothered" when questioned about the potential challenge Wirtz might present to his client's position.

"Dominik has operated in competitive environments since age 16. I've never witnessed a Premier League champion that doesn't seek improvement or avoid recruiting elite talent," explained Esterházy, who also manages new Liverpool keeper Ármin Pécsi.
"I'm confident that [Szoboszlai and Wirtz] will feature together on the field in some capacity.
"Naturally, team selection isn't my responsibility - one of the world's finest managers occupies Liverpool's dugout, possessing far superior knowledge than myself. I believe Dominik will embrace this challenge and achieve greater success alongside this continuously evolving squad."
Liverpool's only major addition before the 2024–25 season was winger Federico Chiesa, yet they claimed the Premier League crown with minimal adjustments to Slot's inherited squad from Klopp. Conversely, this summer's expenditure has reached £196 million ($268.4 million) before June's conclusion, including goalkeeper Georgi Mamardashvili's arrival through a previously arranged transfer from last year.
