Teammates Poke Fun at Lamine Yamal Over His Jaw-Dropping Rabona Magic

Rodri playfully suggested that Lamine Yamal's viral skill during Barcelona's 4–1 Champions League triumph over Galatasaray on Tuesday evening was nothing more than "a fluke."

Barcelona extended their perfect start to 10 wins from 10 in the 2026–27 season, defeating the Turkish club in Istanbul during the second matchday of the Champions League.

Hansi Flick's squad came from behind to claim all three points away from home, with Yamal once again stealing the spotlight after the final whistle.

The 19-year-old didn't find the net but was awarded player of the match after registering two assists—the second of which featured a breathtaking piece of skill that caught the attention of fans worldwide. Spanish commentators described the moment as a "magic trick," while AS later coined the move the "304 dribble"—a nod to the neighborhood where the youngster was raised.

Bursting into the penalty area, Yamal appeared to execute a rabona-cum-croqueta in one seamless motion before setting up Anthony Gordon to convert. However, replays reveal that Barça's No. 10 benefited slightly from a deflection off a defender.

After the game, Yamal's international teammate Rodri poked fun at the winger, casting doubt on just how deliberate the eye-catching move truly was.

"We were saying that he got the ball a little bit on the rebound, we don't know if it was intentional or not, a bit of a fluke," Rodri laughed.

"But well, in the end I always say, you have to go for it. He always has that intention of wanting to get past his man and he created the second one."

Speaking to CBS Sports Golazo, Yamal shed light on his thought process behind the unorthodox move: "Lately I've noticed that when I get out wide, the defenders dive to the ground, and I saw an opportunity and thought I could take it. It's more beautiful and it was effective.

"I always try to use feints to create space because the defenders try to close down."

Fermín López also praised the winger for his other contribution on the night, stating: "The cross he gives me is half a goal. Lamine is the best in the world."

With his two assists against Galatasaray on Tuesday, Yamal surpassed 25 goal contributions in the Champions League—becoming the youngest player in history to reach that landmark, per Transfermarkt.

At 19 years and 92 days old, Yamal is over a year younger than Kylian Mbappé, who was 20 years and 206 days when he reached 25 goals and assists in the competition.

Manchester City's Erling Haaland ranks as the third-youngest player in the tournament's history to hit 25 goal contributions, achieving the feat at 21 years and 139 days.

The likes of Lionel Messi, Jude Bellingham, Vinícius Júnior and Raúl also feature among the top ten.
