Manchester United skipper Bruno Fernandes's home was reportedly broken into on Wednesday evening, with burglars making off with "a number of items" from the midfielder's property.
Fernandes was away in Italy at the time of the burglary, representing United in the Champions League. Following the Red Devils' 4–1 defeat to Como, Cheshire Police responded to the incident at his home.
According to The Athletic, "three unknown men" were seen in the back garden of a neighboring property. Officers were dispatched after receiving reports of "suspicious activity," but the suspects fled before police could arrive.
United confirmed to The Athletic that Fernandes's family was fortunately not present at the time of the break-in, which took place at approximately 8:30 p.m. BST (3:30 p.m. ET). Several items were taken from the property, and a formal police investigation has been launched.
The incident marks the latest in a string of burglaries targeting high-profile Premier League players. Manchester City center back Rúben Dias had his Cheshire home broken into back in January while he was also away for a Champions League fixture.
Jack Grealish and Raheem Sterling have similarly fallen victim to break-ins in the same area.
A Nightmare Week Made Even Worse for Fernandes

The burglary arrives during an especially turbulent period for Fernandes, who publicly criticized United manager Michael Carrick following Wednesday's heavy defeat to Como. The Portugal international voiced his frustration over the team's approach after the Red Devils were thoroughly outclassed in Italy.
Carrick fired back, asserting that no tactical setup will make a difference "if you don't run and you don't run forward and you don't run back." The public exchange between the two key figures only deepened the crisis surrounding the Red Devils.
United are currently enduring a seven-game winless streak, with their most recent victory dating back to Sept. 10 against Champions League newcomers Sabah. The only other win Carrick's side have managed this season came against newly promoted Ipswich Town.
The alarming dip in form has led to players trading blame. Lisandro Martínez launched a scathing attack on club director of football Jason Wilcox following United's 2–0 loss to Atlético Madrid, questioning the inadequacy of the club's summer recruitment.
Now, Fernandes has turned his criticism toward the coaching staff. Carrick remains in his post, though his future is uncertain, particularly if United fail to secure a win against Bournemouth at Old Trafford this weekend.
