Thomas Frank Drops Major Hint About Harry Kane Reunion as Release Clause Details Emerge

Thomas Frank has expressed his enthusiasm for potentially welcoming back England skipper and Tottenham icon Harry Kane to the club, following speculation about an exit clause in Kane's Bayern Munich contract.

"I wasn't aware of such a clause. He's an extraordinary talent who performed brilliantly for Spurs and continues to excel at Bayern. Outstanding player. I believe many Tottenham supporters, myself included, would love to see Kane return," the Danish coach commented.

"Honestly, I don't expect he'll make that move right now. He'll likely remain at Bayern and keep delivering excellent performances. He was the leading goalscorer last season, secured the title, and is performing exceptionally well currently.

"I can't say what's on his mind. Personally, I enjoy traveling and exploring new experiences. He spent many years here, so why not savor his time at Bayern a bit longer? But he's certainly welcome. Should he choose to join us, we'd embrace him wholeheartedly!"

Kane was allegedly reported this week to possess an option to trigger an exit clause next summer, enabling any club to secure his services for €65 million (£56.8 million, $76.3 million). Barcelona and Manchester United are among other clubs mentioned in connection. Keeping possibilities open for a potential homecoming, particularly for a club legend, represents shrewd business strategy, though Frank also managed expectations.

Kane is displaying excellent form at the start of the 2025–26 campaign. The England captain has netted 13 goals across seven matches in all competitions. His most impressive numbers come from the Bundesliga with eight goals and three assists in four outings.

Spurs ultimately brought in Dominic Solanke as Kane's replacement, breaking their transfer record in the process. The ex-Bournemouth striker has faced fitness challenges during Frank's early tenure, while Randal Kolo Muani joined on loan during the final transfer day. The north London side also bid farewell to another club icon, Son Heung-min, during the summer as the South Korean attacker transferred to LAFC.

Kane joined Bayern in August 2023 as the most costly Bundesliga acquisition in the league's history. His debut campaign concluded without silverware as Thomas Tuchel departed at season's end. Tuchel subsequently became England's national team coach, reuniting with his former striker.

Both Kane and Tottenham individually broke their trophy-less streaks last season, with Kane claiming the Bundesliga title and Tottenham capturing the Europa League.

Whether he'll switch clubs, particularly during a World Cup year, remains uncertain, but the opportunity is clearly available.
