Thomas Muller Dismisses Manchester United Transfer Talk: "I'm Not the Right Guy"

Bayern Munich icon Thomas Müller has revealed he previously contemplated joining Manchester United, though he acknowledges that such a transfer is no longer feasible at this stage of his career.

Müller's remarkable 17-year tenure in Munich is nearing its conclusion, with the German playmaker set to depart Bayern after their Club World Cup participation concludes this summer. His extraordinarily successful period with the Bundesliga titleholders has yielded 250 goals and 33 major trophies.

The 2014 World Cup champion was rarely the subject of transfer speculation during his prime years, however United had previously shown genuine interest in acquiring the German attacker. Much of this speculation emerged during Louis van Gaal's tenure at Manchester, given the Dutch manager's previous collaboration with a young Müller during his coaching period in Munich.

Speculation has surrounded Müller potentially pursuing one final chapter with a top European club as his Bayern journey concludes, with the German stalwart set to become a free agent. During a recent interview with CBS Sports, Müller addressed those past connections with United, stating: "Yeah, I thought about it.

"There were some moments I thought it would be nice to experience it."

When questioned about whether a switch to Old Trafford would interest him currently, the 35-year-old responded with characteristic humor: "Now? No, no. I'm not the right guy for them and they are not the right club for me.

"They won't have fun and I won't have fun so that's not a match!" he concluded.

Manchester United concluded the summer following their poorest Premier League campaign in history, yet have demonstrated through their transfer activity that they remain capable of securing top-tier talent. Matheus Cunha has arrived from Wolverhampton Wanderers, while Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo has expressed his ambition to join the Red Devils.

While a pursuit of Müller was never realistically considered this summer, the German has garnered attention from MLS clubs, alongside Fiorentina and Fenerbahçe.
