Top Midfield Star Delivers Final Answer to Real Madrid's Transfer Pursuit

Real Madrid's hopes of acquiring elite midfielder Vitinha have been crushed by the player's own stance, as he shows zero desire to depart Paris Saint-Germain.

Vitinha secured third place in the 2025 Ballon d'Or rankings, representing the top-performing midfielder and sole representative in the top 10. He stands as arguably the finest player globally in his role.

This status makes the Portuguese star an ideal acquisition for Real Madrid, who witnessed Toni Kroos (2024) and Luka Modrić (2025) depart in consecutive summers without securing replacements.

The transfer sum needed to extract Vitinha from PSG was always destined to be problematic, but the player's stance on the situation now renders it completely impossible.

"It would be foolish to depart," the 26-year-old stated to Portugal's Canal 11.

Vitinha

"I don't believe it's the optimal choice for me. I feel extremely comfortable here at PSG. I sense that people value me greatly and I feel that I have gained that respect. I adore being here, and my family does too. We have an amazing squad and an exceptional manager."

That affection for PSG and his current career position remains unaffected even by the enormous wealth available in Saudi Arabia, where national teammates Cristiano Ronaldo, Rúben Neves and João Félix presently compete: "Let's not be unrealistic. I'm more focused on a consistent career. I already earn excellently here in Europe, at a major club. Doubling or tripling that income wouldn't bring me greater happiness."

Real Madrid Forced to Consider Midfield Alternatives

Real Madrid Forced to Consider Midfield Alternatives

Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai

Under contract with PSG until 2029, Vitinha was always destined to be financially prohibitive for Real Madrid, compelling Los Blancos to explore more affordable alternatives.

Among those speculated targets is Liverpool's Alexis Mac Allister, who will soon enter the concluding two years of his deal with the Premier League side.

Similar to most at Anfield this campaign, Mac Allister has endured declining form and, having been previously identified as a target of interest for Real Madrid by Carlo Ancelotti, a new beginning might attract the Argentine international. He was reportedly receptive to the concept when initially discussed, but Real Madrid never actively pursued him thereafter.

Liverpool colleague Dominik Szoboszlai, despite being a different style of midfielder, has also been connected with Real Madrid recently. His representative, however, seemed to dismiss departing the Reds.

VfB Stuttgart's Angelo Stiller represents emerging talent whose valuation could surge if he excels at the 2026 World Cup for Germany. Netherlands international Kees Smit might face similar circumstances, so securing either beforehand would be wise if Real Madrid pursue that direction.

The established choice is Rodri, for whom it would represent a return to the city of his upbringing. He becomes a free agent at Manchester City next year, making now the moment to pursue a fresh challenge if the 2024 Ballon d'Or champion desires new experiences before his career concludes.

Nico Paz represents a different player type, an attacking playmaker or wandering No. 10, and is anticipated to return to the Bernabéu from Como this upcoming summer due to a very reasonable buy-back option. Whether Real Madrid retain him or capitalize on the market for immediate substantial profit remains undetermined.
