Tottenham Eyes Bayern Munich Star as Massive Transfer Fee Emerges

Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on Bayern Munich's midfield player João Palhinha, with the German giants reportedly willing to part ways with the 30-year-old according to various sources.
The Portuguese star made his mark in London, impressing during his two-year stint in Fulham's midfield before making a high-profile transfer to Bayern last summer. Nevertheless, his time in Germany proved challenging during his first campaign, managing only 25 total appearances across all tournaments.
A departure has been suggested due to his limited playing time under Vincent Kompany's management, with German reporter Florian Plettenberg now confirming that Tottenham are "keeping tabs" on the player. Although no formal negotiations have taken place yet, Palhinha's agents have been made aware of Spurs' keen interest.
The Athletic has similarly covered Tottenham's pursuit of the ex-Braga and Sporting CP player, stating that they favor a temporary arrangement rather than a permanent acquisition. The North London club could definitely benefit from a tenacious defensive midfielder next term as they prepare to compete under new boss Thomas Frank, though they need to be mindful of their budget after significant summer expenditure.

SPORT BILDsimilarly confirms that Spurs lean toward a loan arrangement, but the German publication has disclosed that Bayern's valuation stands at approximately €25 million (£21.9 million, $29.4 million) for a permanent departure. This represents a substantial financial hit for the Bavarians, who invested €51 million in Palhinha just last summer.
Although Palhinha has expressed his intention to remain and compete for his position at the Allianz Arena next season, thereport suggests he would entertain a "genuinely exceptional proposal". Multiple inquiries have already come from England, Spain, Italy, Turkey and Portugal, with Arsenal having expressed interest in acquiring his services earlier this summer.
Spurs have already secured Mathys Tel from Bayern this summer, while also investing heavily in Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United and Kevin Danso from Lens. Young prospects Kōta Takai and Luka Vušković have also joined the defensive ranks.
