Tottenham Hotspur have announced they are backing Destiny Udogie following confirmation that he was the unnamed player who received gun threats from an agent.

Reports emerged earlier this week regarding an incident involving a Premier League footballer and a 31-year-old representative, where the player faced firearm threats on Cockfosters Parade in Barnet. Metropolitan Police made an arrest on charges including firearm possession with intent, blackmail, and unlicensed driving.

In a brief Tuesday statement, Tottenham verified that Italian international Udogie was the affected player and stated the club has been "offering assistance to Destiny and his family following the incident and will continue providing support."

A source informed The Sun about the September 6 incident: "This was a frightening occurrence that has created ripples throughout football's business sector. The player was naturally disturbed—facing gun threats is deeply unsettling.

"He immediately reported the matter. It was the correct decision for his protection. His friends and club have provided support, and everyone hopes this won't affect his playing ability. However, serious questions remain about the circumstances, which police are investigating."

The 22-year-old Udogie, quickly establishing himself among the globe's top left-backs, featured in Tottenham's 4–0 victory against FC Copenhagen in Tuesday's Champions League match—a performance that secured Thomas Frank's team their second win in four European fixtures, propelling them into the competition's top eight standings.

This marked Udogie's 10th seasonal appearance for Spurs, who have made an impressive campaign start under Frank after releasing Ange Postecoglou following a 17th-place Premier League campaign and Europa League triumph—that championship ended the club's 17-year trophy drought.
