Tottenham Strike £55 Million Deal to Land West Ham's Prized Superstar

Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement to acquire Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United for approximately £55 million ($74.7 million), according to recent reports, with his medical examination scheduled for Thursday.
The attacking midfielder had an outstanding first campaign with the Hammers during the 2023–24 season following his transfer from Ajax, netting 14 goals and providing six assists across all competitions. Nevertheless, his offensive contributions declined in the following season with only nine total goal involvements.
As West Ham seeks to generate funds to bolster Graham Potter's roster, they have remained receptive to offers for Kudus—even welcoming bids from clubs like Spurs, marking the first player sale between the two London clubs since Scott Parker's transfer in 2011.
Tottenham showed immediate interest in acquiring Kudus from West Ham, though their opening bid of £50 million ($67.9 million) was turned down by the 2023 Conference League champions. Nevertheless, The Athletic reports that an enhanced proposal has now been approved, and assuming the 24-year-old successfully completes his medical assessment, he will commit to a six-year deal in north London.
Kudus is believed to have prioritized a move to Spurs, and reaching agreement on personal terms should not present any complications.
West Ham had included an £85 million release clause in Kudus's contract upon his arrival, hoping that any future transfer would yield substantial returns on their investment to Ajax two years prior. However, they have shown willingness to accept a considerably reduced fee following an underwhelming 2024–25 season—indicating that incoming funds are essential before West Ham can make new acquisitions.
Tottenham have been keen to strengthen their attacking options this summer, and Kudus would represent the third addition under Thomas Frank's leadership, following the signings of Japanese defender Kōta Takai and French striker Mathys Tel. The latter completed a permanent switch from Bayern Munich to Spurs earlier this summer after spending last season on loan.
If the transfer is completed promptly, Kudus could feature in Tottenham's pre-season fixture against Reading on July 19.
