Tottenham Unleash Fierce Response to Takeover Rumors With Defiant Declaration

Tottenham Hotspur have rejected claims that the club might be available for purchase after chairman Daniel Levy's exit, despite reports of unsuccessful bids from former Newcastle United executive Amanda Staveley and a Chinese investment group.

News broke shortly after the transfer window closed that Spurs had chosen to separate from Levy, marking the final phase of an extensive behind-the-scenes reorganization. Having been linked with the club for nearly 25 years, his departure understandably created ripples throughout the Premier League.

Following Levy's departure, considerable conjecture arose regarding Spurs' future direction, with numerous takeover rumors circulating. The potential buyers reportedly include Staveley's investment group and a Chinese syndicate headed by Dr Roger Kennedy and Wing-Fai Ng.

Spurs acknowledged receiving inquiries about purchasing ENIC's 87% ownership stake—The Telegraph indicates these proposals came after Levy's departure was confirmed—but they categorically stated they have no plans to entertain takeover offers.

"The Board of Tottenham Hotspur Limited acknowledges recent media reports and confirms that its majority shareholder, ENIC Sports & Developments Holdings Ltd, has received, and categorically declined, separate initial expressions of interest regarding proposals to purchase the complete issued, and to be issued, share capital of ENIC from (i) PCP International Finance Limited; and (ii) an investor consortium headed by Dr. Roger Kennedy and Wing-Fai Ng via Firehawk Holdings Limited," an official statement declared.

"Due to ENIC's controlling ownership position in Tottenham Hotspur, should any bid to acquire ENIC be made and succeed, a mandatory offer would be necessary under Rule 9 of the Code to purchase the Tottenham Hotspur shares not currently owned by ENIC.

"The Club's Board and ENIC confirm that Tottenham Hotspur is not available for sale and ENIC has no plans to accept any such proposal to acquire its stake in the Club."

Now that they have been identified as potential buyers, Staveley's group is anticipated to issue a statement confirming they will not submit a formal offer.
