Trent Alexander-Arnold Opens Up About Heartbreaking Injury Setback in Emotional Revelation

Trent Alexander-Arnold expressed being "completely devastated" after sustaining another injury setback that will keep him sidelined for the remainder of 2025 during his rehabilitation period.

Having recently returned from a hamstring issue that kept him out of seven matches—plus two additional games where he remained an unused substitute—Alexander-Arnold was forced to exit Real Madrid's 3–0 victory against Athletic Club just 10 minutes into the second half due to a quadriceps injury.

Through a social media statement, the ex-Liverpool fullback confirmed his absence from competition until 2026.

"Completely devastated by this setback," Alexander-Arnold wrote to his Instagram audience. "The timing is particularly painful, but I'm committed to working diligently for a stronger comeback.

"Until 2026, Madridistas."

Alexander-Arnold Facing Two-Month Absence

Following initial worries about an extended recovery period, sources indicate that Alexander-Arnold is anticipated to be unavailable for approximately two months. This timeline suggests a potential return in early February.

Should he regain fitness during the first week of February, the right-back would be absent for up to 14 fixtures spanning four separate tournaments. During this period, Los Blancos will compete in La Liga, the Champions League, Copa del Rey and Supercopa de España.

Real Madrid's Right-Back Dilemma

With Dani Carvajal also injured and Real Madrid lacking another senior right-back option, manager Xabi Alonso faces a significant challenge during this demanding period of the campaign.

The team captain remains out with a knee problem and isn't expected to return until late January at the earliest.

It was anticipated that both players would rotate throughout this season, though this arrangement might not have pleased either individual, but now both find themselves injured simultaneously.

The responsibility to fill this void is likely to fall once again on midfielder Federico Valverde. The Uruguayan has already spent six weeks from October through November operating at right-back to cover for Carvajal and Alexander-Arnold's previous injury spells.

He has featured in this role consistently over the last 18 months, most memorably when he led Real Madrid to triumph over Manchester City in a two-leg Champions League tie last season.
