As the National Women's Soccer League pauses for the June international window and European clubs wrap up their campaigns, the U.S. women's national team is gearing up for a pair of friendly fixtures against Brazil.
A well-known opponent, last encountered in the 2024 Olympic gold medal game, this formidable side will give USWNT head coach Emma Hayes plenty to consider as she edges closer to finalizing her roster selections for next year's FIFA Women's World Cup.
On Wednesday, Hayes announced her 26-player squad for the upcoming window, with matches scheduled for June 6 and June 9 in Brazil.
"This trip presents incredible opportunities for these players to experience Brazil, its culture, stadiums, and passionate supporters, and especially the chance to face the World Cup hosts," Hayes said. "Few challenges in women's international soccer rival playing Brazil on their home soil, so we're looking forward to the valuable lessons this experience will provide."

Triple Espresso Returns
The long-awaited reunion of Trinity Rodman, Mallory Swanson, and Sophia Wilson may finally be at hand. Both Wilson and Swanson missed significant time with the national team after welcoming new children. If Swanson features on June 6, it will mark 604 days since her last international appearance. It has been 22 months since all three were named to the same roster.
"It's wonderful for our team, both on and off the pitch, to have Trinity and our two soccer moms back together on the same roster," said Hayes. "However, we understand the importance of preparing for World Cup qualifying and the need for the group to come together throughout that process. We need to forge connections between players, and with limited time before qualifying, every moment matters."

Swanson, who has featured in just two matches for her club, the Chicago Stars, since returning to action, will look to build on her 103 caps and 38 international goals, placing her 17th on the team's all-time scoring chart. Together, her and her espresso partners have combined for 10 goals and five assists.
"Bubble" players get a chance due to injuries
With key USWNT regulars sidelined, including Naomi Girma, Catarina Macario, and Sam Coffey, several players who were left out of the April window have earned spots on this June roster. Defender Tara Rudd and midfielders Croix Bethune and Riley Jackson are all back in the fold. Notably, the squad features no first-time call-ups, despite an average age of just 25.1.

All three players have seen limited action with the national team, with Rudd's 12 caps surpassing Bethune's seven and Jackson's one. Delivering strong performances against a powerhouse Brazil side on their home turf would go a long way in making their case to Hayes. Notably, these matches represent the first time the USWNT has played Brazil in Brazil since 2014.
Heaps and Yohannes named to squad after UWCL loss with Lyon
Following a devastating 4–0 defeat to Barcelona in the UEFA Women's Champions League final last weekend, Lindsey Heaps and Lily Yohannes both received call-ups for the June international window. The duo will feature in the Division 1 Féminine final against Paris FC on May 29 to close out their club season. The match will be Heaps's final appearance for the French club as she prepares to join Denver Summit FC following the international break.

Who will be the starting keeper?
Just when it seemed Hayes had settled on her starting goalkeeper, Mandy McGlynn of league-leading Utah Royals has rejoined the squad following a hand injury. The 27-year-old will be eager to stake her claim as the USWNT's No. 1 between the posts, bolstered by her standout club performances.
Among the three goalkeepers called up, Seattle Reign's Claudia Dickey leads with 10 caps, followed by Manchester United's Phallon Tullis-Joyce with seven and McGlynn with five. These fixtures will be pivotal in revealing where Hayes stands on one of the team's most unsettled positions.
