England head coach Thomas Tuchel has acknowledged that the guilty ruling against Manchester City has been weighing on his squad throughout the current international break.
The conclusion of a prolonged investigation into City was announced while players were scattered across the globe on international duty, sending shockwaves through the squad after the club was found guilty of inflating sponsorship deals to circumvent Financial Fair Play rules.
Numerous potential penalties have been floated, many of which could have devastating consequences for the club and, by extension, the players who wear the Cityzens' colors.
Norwegian striker Erling Haaland and Portuguese center back Rúben Dias have already spoken publicly during the international break, and now Tuchel has confirmed that his England players have been actively discussing the unfolding situation.
"I think it is a distraction," said Tuchel, whose England squad currently includes Marc Guéhi and Elliot Anderson following left back Nico O'Reilly's withdrawal through injury. "It is. Let's say it is a subject. If it's a distraction, I don't know.
"It is obviously a talking point and we bring it up at dinner around tables of eight or 12 people. We discuss it at breakfast too. I know the Man City players are receiving a flood of messages, phone calls, and reactions about it.
"Are they worried or concerned? I think that would be a very natural human reaction when you're uncertain about the future of the club you signed for. They're still young. They're ambitious. They've been told they are completely innocent and yet don't know what lies ahead. It is a subject.
"I'm still not entirely sure if it's a distraction. I don't notice it when I see them in my meetings. I don't see it in how they interact with their teammates, and I don't see it affecting them in training. But it's a topic. How could it not be?"
What Will Happen to Man City Stars?

At this stage, that remains entirely unclear.
City have lodged an appeal against the ruling, continuing to maintain their innocence. It is still uncertain whether any penalties will be imposed in the near term or only after the conclusion of the next legal confrontation with the Premier League.
None of the City players will face direct personal consequences from any sanctions, but a harsh punishment could fundamentally reshape life at the club as it currently stands.
Expulsion from the Premier League would leave players in a state of uncertainty, while a points deduction or potential relegation could affect wages and may prompt City's high-profile stars to seek moves elsewhere.
Man City Saga Becomes Worldwide Topic

England is far from the only nation with City players in their ranks this month. Players are away representing countries including Argentina, France, and Uzbekistan, where the club's guilty verdict has undoubtedly been a major topic of conversation.
The issue has even permeated dressing rooms without a single City player present, with Wales midfielder Ethan Ampadu of Leeds United revealing that it has captivated the Welsh squad as well.
"Everyone has talked about it," Ampadu said.
"I don't think I have a strong opinion on it, to be honest. It's something that will be resolved elsewhere, and I'm not sure exactly when.
"We'll just have to wait and see, but yes, everyone has been talking about it."
