USMNT Dominates Haiti 2-1 to Cap Off Flawless Gold Cup Group Stage Run

The United States men's national soccer team managed to secure a 2-1 victory over Haiti, completing their Group D campaign at the Concacaf Gold Cup with an unblemished record, though the win wasn't without its challenges.
Following nearly sixty minutes of deadlock at one goal each, the Americans found their decisive moment when Charlotte FC forward Patrick Agyemang netted the winner in the 79th minute. Agyemang perfectly timed his movement, weaved past Haitian keeper Johnny Placide, and calmly finished into the unguarded net.
Haiti, ranked 83rd by FIFA, proved to be formidable opponents throughout the contest. While Malik Tillman gave Mauricio Pochettino's squad the early advantage in the 10th minute by converting a delivery from Brendan Aaronson, Haiti responded just nine minutes later in the 19th minute, capitalizing on a defensive error from goalkeeper Matt Freese.
This marked Tillman's third consecutive goal in as many matches this summer, demonstrating the excellent form he's carried over from his performances with PSV in the Netherlands into his USMNT appearances.
Following Haiti's equalizer, the United States found their rhythm and successfully weathered Haiti's late offensive push, including a dangerous free kick opportunity that posed no real threat to Freese, who dealt with it comfortably.
The triumph ensured the U.S. claimed first place in Group D and now prepares for what promises to be a demanding knockout phase. The Americans will face either Mexico or Costa Rica in their quarterfinal matchup.
Below are the individual player assessments from Sunday's final group stage encounter.
