USMNT Star Yunus Musah Poised to Leave AC Milan as Serie A Transfer Deal Gets Green Light

Following months of speculation regarding transfers and rumored departure plans from AC Milan, United States men's national team midfielder Yunus Musah appears poised to move to Serie A club Atalanta via loan arrangement, as reported by Fabrizio Romano and multiple sources.

The transaction is said to be valued at approximately €25 million ($29.2 million) when combining both the loan fee and purchase option components.

If the transfer reaches completion, Milan stands to generate profit from Musah's sale, having secured his services from Spanish La Liga club Valencia CF in 2023 for $21 million. Before his Valencia stint, Musah developed through Arsenal's youth system in England.

The transfer is expected to finalize just ahead of Monday's European market closure, concluding an eventful summer for the midfielder who was notably excluded from manager Mauricio Pochettino's squad for September international matches against South Korea and Japan.

During his time at Milan, Musah featured in 82 matches and recently operated as a right wing-back in Friday's 2–0 victory against Lecce, where compatriot Christian Pulisic netted his inaugural Serie A goal of the season.

The USMNT player was among various Europe-based talents who missed the Concacaf Gold Cup, where the United States ultimately fell to Mexico in the championship match using a roster predominantly composed of MLS players.

"Frankly, I was devastated that I couldn't participate in the Gold Cup," Musah shared with ESPN. "The coaching staff were all disappointed about my absence, but ultimately I had to make that choice for my own well-being because I needed to disconnect following a demanding season. I required that recovery time. In the end, it was about taking that break so I could be in optimal condition to continue through the entire season and deliver my best performance for both club and country."

Atalanta return to action following the September international window, hosting Lecce at home, and Musah could potentially face his previous Milan teammates on Oct. 29. His next opportunity to earn selection for the USMNT roster arrives in October with international friendlies versus Ecuador and Australia.
