USMNT Star's Shocking $43.7 Million Premier League Move Collapses at the Last Minute
Ricardo Pepi's anticipated move to the Premier League has been shelved, as Fulham's planned acquisition of the United States men's national team striker has reportedly collapsed.
The forward was expected to complete a €37 million ($43.7 million, £32 million) transfer from PSV Eindhoven to the west London outfit. However, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the Eredivisie side withdrew from negotiations after failing to secure a suitable replacement.
This development means Pepi will remain at PSV for the remainder of the 2025–26 campaign, having netted 11 times in 22 appearances across all competitions this term.
Following a prolific run of scoring in five straight Eredivisie fixtures between late November and early January, the 23-year-old Texas native has been sidelined for three weeks due to a fractured arm. Any potential move to Fulham would have seen him arrive injured, with his return not expected until March.

Should his rehabilitation progress as planned, Pepi is expected to be fit and ready when the USMNT prepares for demanding consecutive World Cup preparation matches at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in late March versus Belgium and Portugal.
The former FC Dallas academy product will have an additional two months to regain match sharpness as PSV pursue their third consecutive Dutch championship—currently leading closest rivals Feyenoord by 17 points with 13 fixtures remaining—and prepare thoroughly for the 2026 World Cup in North America.
Two additional preparation matches on May 31 and June 6 will feature opponents Senegal and Germany respectively, ahead of the June 12 Group D kickoff against Paraguay.

Will Pepi Move to the Premier League?

Pepi remains a viable candidate to join the ranks of Americans competing in England's top division. His displays during what appears to be another championship-winning campaign for PSV attracted Fulham's attention this month, and assuming he returns to similar form following his recovery, there's every reason to expect the Cottagers or other interested parties to renew their pursuit this summer.
PSV have demonstrated their willingness to part ways with the striker, having reached an agreement on the transfer fee with Fulham—only insufficient time to find a replacement prevented the deal's completion—and will likely hope to see Pepi excel at the World Cup due to the potential boost it could provide to his market value.
While numerous Americans have featured in Premier League history, only four U.S. players currently compete in England's elite division: Tyler Adams (Bournemouth), Brenden Aaronson (Leeds United), Chris Richards (Crystal Palace) and Antonee Robinson (Fulham).
