The U.S. men's national team put on an impressive show for home fans across North America at the 2026 FIFA World Cup this summer, setting records on their way to the round of 16. Despite a rather embarrassing elimination at the hands of Belgium, the Americans did enough to attract attention from top clubs worldwide.
Several players have received interest—or confirmed moves—during the summer transfer window, which opened in June and runs through September.
Here is a rundown of every completed, ongoing, or rumored transfer involving USMNT players this summer.
Completed Deals
USMNT midfielder Sebastian Berhalter wrapped up a transfer from MLS's Vancouver Whitecaps to EFL Championship club Middlesbrough last week. The North Yorkshire outfit paid $2 million for the World Cup squad player, opting not to wait for his contract to expire at the close of the 2026 MLS season.
The move came on the heels of Berhalter's standout World Cup debut, during which he served as Christian Pulisic's main injury cover and appeared in all five of the USMNT's games. He particularly impressed in the group stage finale against Türkiye, contributing a goal and an assist in the 3–2 defeat.
Just a week after the USMNT's round of 16 elimination, MLS's New England Revolution extended the loan of experienced goalkeeper Matt Turner from Ligue 1's Lyon through the end of the year, with an option to continue through 2027. Turner, who served as backup to Matt Freese this summer, made a single start on the world stage in the match against Türkiye, and holds 55 total caps with the national team.
Deals in Progress
MLS's Columbus Crew winger Max Arfsten is reportedly close to completing a move that would see him join Berhalter at Middlesbrough in England's second tier. The club is set to pay $7.5 million for the USMNT squad player, who is valued for his versatility on the flanks—capable of playing on both the right and left sides as a winger, wing-back, or fullback. Arfsten logged just a single minute at the World Cup but recently made his second-consecutive appearance in Wednesday's MLS All-Star Game.
Midfielder Gio Reyna is reportedly in discussions to join Ligue 1's Strasbourg after being limited to a minimal role at Borussia Mönchengladbach last season. Reyna was a key impact substitute this summer for USMNT boss Mauricio Pochettino, who has repeatedly praised the 23-year-old. Reyna repaid Pochettino's faith with a stunning trivela goal in the group stage opener against Paraguay.
Rumored Transfers
USMNT leading striker Folarin Balogun, who announced himself on the global stage with three goals in four matches in his World Cup debut, seemed poised to dominate this summer's transfer headlines; however, not all of the spotlight was favorable. He became embroiled in controversy following a contentious red card in the round of 32 that grew even more disputed when it was remarkably overturned after U.S. President Donald Trump reportedly placed a call to FIFA president Gianni Infantino.
Regardless of the circumstances, the AS Monaco forward thrust himself into the spotlight and has since reportedly drawn interest from Ligue 1's Paris Saint-Germain and Premier League clubs Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur. Monaco, however, are standing firm on a valuation of approximately €50 million ($57.6 million) for Balogun, whose contract runs until 2028.
Bournemouth's Tyler Adams, a defensive midfielder and the cornerstone of the USMNT's central structure throughout the tournament, has been linked with moves to both Newcastle United and Manchester United. Adams's contract runs through 2028.
USMNT stalwart left back Antonee "Jedi" Robinson, contracted to Premier League side Fulham until the summer of 2028, was a key fixture in Mauricio Pochettino's starting eleven at the World Cup. United are in the hunt for a left back, and Robinson has been linked with a move to Old Trafford following his composed performances on football's biggest stage.
U.S. Soccer icon Christian Pulisic's contract with Serie A's AC Milan expires next year, and New York City FC have made no secret of their desire to sign the star winger; however, Milan reportedly rebuffed the MLS club's approach, as they have no current intention of selling Pulisic.
Sergiño Dest, who excelled on the right wing for the USMNT, was reportedly attracting interest from Bundesliga powerhouse Bayern Munich ahead of the World Cup; however, the PSV Eindhoven player is not currently engaged in any active talks or negotiations. He is expected to stay in the Dutch Eredivisie until his contract runs out in 2028.
