Following a weekend in which the full squad was revealed through multiple reports, the United States men's national team announced the 26 players who will represent the Stars and Stripes at the 2026 FIFA World Cup this summer, co-hosted by the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
Having evaluated more than 80 players since taking charge as head coach, Mauricio Pochettino had a wide pool of options for his final World Cup squad, which he and U.S. Soccer officially announced at a New York City event on Tuesday afternoon.
With the USMNT roster now confirmed, there is much to discuss, from Diego Luna's omission, to Gio Reyna's selection and the current form of captain and anticipated standout Christian Pulisic. The objective, however, remains unchanged: to advance deep into the tournament in front of home supporters, with a quarterfinal run or further appearing to be a realistic ambition for the squad.
Here are the 26 players charged with carrying the U.S. forward next month in the second-ever men's World Cup on American soil (1994). That said, injury-related roster adjustments remain possible up until 24 hours before the opening match.

Who Are The Superstars?

Christian Pulisic continues to be the USMNT's marquee name, even as he arrives at the World Cup enduring the worst stretch of form in his professional career. The forward from Hershey, Pa. closed out his season with Italian club AC Milan without finding the net in 19 appearances dating back to 2025, contributing just two assists during that run. At international level, he has not scored since 2024.
Nevertheless, no player will carry a higher profile this summer, with the four-time U.S. Soccer Male Player of the Year set to share the stage with the sport's elite talents, including Argentina's Lionel Messi, Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo and France's Kylian Mbappé. The pressure will be enormous on the American to deliver in what will be his second World Cup appearance, following a strong debut at the 2022 tournament in Qatar.
Beyond Pulisic, another Serie A-based talent stands out: dynamic midfielder Weston McKennie, a truly versatile performer. Frequently described as a "Swiss army knife," the Juventus star filled nearly every role on the pitch this season, recording eight goals and nine assists across all competitions and cementing his place at one of Europe's most high-profile clubs. He will be well-accustomed to the scrutiny and expectations that come with this summer's tournament.
As for the rest of the squad? Keep a close watch on Crystal Palace center back Chris Richards, who has built a reputation as one of the most reliable central defenders in the Premier League over the past two seasons and is a cornerstone of Pochettino's defensive setup. In attack, Folarin Balogun arrives having netted 18 goals across Ligue 1 and UEFA Champions League competition this season.
USMNT'S 2026 FIFA World Cup Group D Schedule
Date | Fixture | Time | Location |
|---|---|---|---|
June 12 | USMNT v Paraguay | 9 pm ET/6 pm PT | Los Angeles |
June 19 | USMNT vs. Australia | 3 pm ET/12 pm PT | Seattle |

In the lead-up to the World Cup, the USMNT will take on Senegal in a friendly on May 31 in Charlotte, before their final pre-tournament match against Germany in Chicago on June 6.
Should the USMNT claim first place in Group D, they would advance to Santa Clara, Calif., for the round of 32. A second-place finish in the group stage would send them to Arlington, Texas, while a third-place result would direct them to Foxborough, Mass., East Rutherford, N.J. or Kansas City. Finishing fourth would bring the USMNT's World Cup campaign to an immediate end.
