With fewer than twelve months remaining on a deal that has generated enormous speculation, Madrid's talismanic forward has become one of the most talked-about figures in this transfer window. Energized by the uncertainty surrounding his expiring contract, Arsenal are reportedly weighing up a potential move for Vinícius Jr. Having previously offered only public declarations of loyalty to Madrid, the 26-year-old now seems to be adopting a more confrontational approach.

Reports suggest that Vinícius Jr is prepared to lower his wage demands to align with Real Madrid's highest earner, Kylian Mbappé, rather than insisting on a figure previously only matched by Cristiano Ronaldo. While the matter of an extraordinary signing bonus lingers, it has now emerged that Vinícius Jr's image rights represent a significant sticking point in discussions.
Like many of his teammates, the Brazilian's contract contains a clause granting Real Madrid approximately 50% of his earnings from commercial and marketing activities, as reported by AS. In a sense, Vinícius Jr could be considered to be subsidizing his own wages, given the substantial revenue he generates for the club through this highly lucrative stream.
At least 16 separate sponsors utilized Vinícius Jr's image during the 2026 World Cup, with brands ranging from sportswear to footwear all capitalizing on the forward's commercial appeal.
