Vinicius Jr Breaks Silence With Blunt Two-Word Message Following Sevilla Injury Scare

Vinicius Junior gave fans a scare with an apparent injury during Real Madrid's 1–0 victory against Sevilla, though he reassured reporters that there was no cause for concern as he departed the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán on Sunday.

The Brazilian opened the scoring 15 minutes in, with a composed low finish from outside the area proving to be the decisive goal on a warm afternoon in Andalusia, as Real Madrid claimed consecutive La Liga victories for the first time since March.

With little left to play for, Real Madrid's aim is to close out the season on a positive note for their supporters following a deeply disappointing campaign. However, fans of both Los Blancos and the Brazilian national team were left anxious when Vinicius Jr was substituted off in the 77th minute after going down clutching his leg.

Adding to the concern, the Brazilian was seen hobbling off the pitch and appeared to still be moving uncomfortably as he made his way to the team bus after the final whistle—though the precise nature of the problem remains unknown.

Despite the visible discomfort, the winger himself downplayed the issue, telling reporters "I'm fine" as he exited the ground, as reported by DAZN's Sergio Quirante on X.

In his post-match press conference, Álvaro Arbeloa confirmed that Vinicius Jr was not the only player to pick up a knock during a physical encounter in Seville.

"Vini came off with a niggle," he told the media. "Aurelién Tchouaméni wasn't fully fit today either. Dean Huijsen also took a knock. We'll see how the week progresses and whether we can have them ready for the weekend."

When asked about the seriousness of the three players' injuries, Arbeloa added: "There's nothing particularly serious."

Real Madrid wrap up the 2025–26 season with a home fixture against Athletic Club on Saturday.

Vinicius Jr Finding Form Ahead of the World Cup

It has been far from a standout season for Madrid's No. 7, yet despite the turbulence surrounding the campaign, he has managed to rediscover his best form in recent weeks.

Vinicius Jr now has six goal contributions across his last seven appearances in all competitions and has tallied 16 La Liga goals in 2025–26—just one short of his personal best for a single domestic season.

Provided his injury proves minor, Vinicius will head into this summer's World Cup as one of Brazil's marquee players, under the guidance of former Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti.

The weight of expectation will fall on the 2024 Best FIFA Men's Player to help end Brazil's World Cup drought dating back to 2002, with 34-year-old Neymar unlikely to make the final squad. The 25-year-old Vinicius Jr has eight goals in 47 senior international appearances and is yet to claim a major honor with his country.
