Vinícius Jr has broken his silence on his current slump, confessing he is frustrated with himself after yet another underwhelming display in the 4–3 victory against Roma on Wednesday.
The Brazilian star's performances have been a major concern at Real Madrid this season, with the 26-year-old managing just one goal and one assist across 10 appearances.
Vinícius Jr has been a marginal presence in José Mourinho's setup in 2026–27, frequently failing to make an impact from the flanks. The Bernabéu faithful, seemingly partly irritated by the player's drawn-out contract negotiations that dominated the summer headlines, have responded with persistent jeering and whistling.
A quiet start to the season escalated into a serious concern following a toothless display in the Madrid derby loss before the international break. That was compounded by a red card for pulling Nathan Saliba's hair in the victory over Villarreal on Saturday—an incident that earned him a four-game ban.
Another Nightmare Night

Wednesday's thrilling comeback in the Champions League was breathtaking, but offered no relief for Vinícius, who was largely invisible against Roma before being hauled off.
The winger created just one chance, registered zero shots, and accumulated only 22 touches before his substitution, while also making a costly error that gifted Roma their second goal.
For the third consecutive Madrid match, Vinícius failed to last until the hour mark and was withdrawn with Los Blancos down 3–1 in Rome. His replacement, Endrick, proved instrumental in the remarkable comeback that saw the visitors net three goals in just 10 minutes.
The team's resurgence in his absence only strengthens the growing perception that this Madrid side functions better and more effectively without their No. 7.
Vinícius Jr Addresses His Bad Run

Speaking following the win, Vinícius Jr, who visibly showed his displeasure at being substituted by Mourinho, acknowledged his frustration with his own performances.
When asked about his reaction to being taken off, he said: "I was angry after the substitution because I always want to perform at my best and contribute to the team.
"The substitutions transformed the team. Endrick changed the momentum and was the standout player. And Carlos [Espí] came on for a few minutes but still scored. I'm angry with myself for not being at my best. But in the end, Vini always bounces back and I have no doubt that I will."
Vinícius Jr also indicated that learning about his four-match ban—which will cause him to miss the Clásico on Oct. 25—had a negative impact on his preparation for the match.
"I think the suspension came at a bad time," he said. "They had the whole day to announce the suspension, and I only found out when I got to the stadium. The rule is new, and La Liga officials usually come to explain new regulations to us, but they didn't explain this one. I've never committed an act of violence against another player. I get fouled quite a lot, and a yellow card has always been sufficient for me."
'The Boos Don't Help'—Vinícius Jr on Hostile Reception

Vinícius Jr has become a focal point for the Bernabéu's discontent this season, bearing the brunt of audible jeers and whistles from his own supporters during home fixtures in recent weeks amid his poor run of form.
The Brazilian addressed the supporters directly, stating: "The boos certainly don't help me, but people pay for their tickets. We perform better when the fans are behind us. Jude [Bellingham] plays better, [Kylian] Mbappé plays better, I play better. I think it's easier to boo me because I've been here longer and I'm one of the captains."
He continued: "I'm going to come back stronger. When I arrived as a youngster, many people laughed at me, and yet I've gone on to score over 100 goals for Real Madrid."
Vinícius Jr's next chance to snap out of his poor form will come when Madrid take on RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Wednesday, Oct. 21. He will remain unavailable in La Liga until Madrid welcome Celta on Nov. 22.
