Vinicius Junior Praises Man Utd Star's Brilliant Display Against Arsenal

Vinícius Júnior showed support for his Brazilian teammate Matheus Cunha on social media after the player's first Premier League appearance with Manchester United.

Cunha was selected to start alongside Bryan Mbeumo in Ruben Amorim's revamped attacking lineup that spearheaded the effort against Arsenal. The Red Devils dominated much of the play, yet they still fell to a 1–0 loss at Old Trafford in their opening fixture of the 2025–26 season.

While the outcome was frustrating for Manchester United, several encouraging aspects emerged from the contest, particularly Cunha's display. The 26-year-old completed all but two of his passes, registered four attempts on goal, and generated one clear scoring opportunity through an impressive solo run from deep that split Arsenal's backline.

Following the game, Cunha took to social media to voice his disappointment with the final score.

"We earned much more than this!" Cunha posted on Instagram. "Such a privilege to make my debut in this atmosphere. We'll keep getting better. This is only the start!"

Vinícius Júnior joined thousands of others in responding to the message, commenting, "Joga muito!!" which translates to "Play too hard!!"

The Real Madrid forward has lined up alongside Cunha for Brazil's national team, including during their most recent June international window. The newly signed Manchester United player provided the assist for Vinícius Júnior's decisive goal against Paraguay that secured Brazil's spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

However, Cunha is still seeking his first goal or assist for the Red Devils since signing his five-year deal with the English club. The ex-Wolves player appeared in four preseason fixtures for Manchester United before completing the full 90 minutes against Arsenal in the team's Premier League season opener.

Amorim will require his £62.5 million ($84.7 million) acquisition to deliver in attacking areas if the 20-time English champions hope to start their ascent up the Premier League table following a disastrous 2024–25 campaign.

Cunha will have another opportunity to make his mark this weekend when Manchester United visit Craven Cottage.
