Wayne Rooney Blasts Man Utd Duo as 'Selfish Babies' in Scathing Nightmare Behavior Rant

Wayne Rooney has lashed out at Manchester United pair Lisandro Martínez and Bruno Fernandes over their recent public criticism of the club, labeling the duo "babies" who are deflecting blame onto their teammates.

Just as United appeared to be moving past Martínez's remarks directed at the recruitment staff, a heavy 4–1 loss to Como prompted Fernandes to publicly question Michael Carrick's tactical approach.

The situation has deteriorated significantly, with the heat on Carrick intensifying by the day. In Rooney's view, the events of the past week have laid bare exactly what is unraveling at Old Trafford.

"When Martínez spoke out, I said this is an absolute disaster because it will tear the dressing room apart, and that was just the beginning," he told The United Stand. "We've seen it now with Bruno and you're going to see it with more players. The reason is because those players don't want to take responsibility.

Should Man Utd Look to Sell Lisandro Martínez?

"You can debate whether Bruno was right or wrong in what he said, but you have to take responsibility on the pitch, you have to take responsibility as a group and regardless of who your manager is. There were times when me and Sir Alex Ferguson weren't on speaking terms, but I'd run through a brick wall for him on the pitch because I want to play for myself, I want to play for the club, I want to play for the fans.

"These players are selfish. They care about themselves, not their teammates, not the manager, not the staff or the fans — only themselves.

"If things aren't going their way ... they act like babies, throwing their toys out of the pram and trying to shift the blame onto everyone but themselves. They need to look inward. If they're truly honest with themselves, then they can start pointing fingers at others."

Rooney: Time to Prove Players Deserve Man Utd Futures

Rooney went on to argue that this United squad possesses more than enough quality to be successful, but challenged the players to demonstrate their value to the team.

"Martínez, for example, as much as fans might agree and say, 'oh yeah, this is great, he's speaking out against the club,' he's doing it to deflect attention away from himself," Rooney continued.

"Bruno is going through probably the worst stretch of form he's experienced since joining the club and again, it's no coincidence — he's putting pressure on someone else because he doesn't want to face it himself. He doesn't want to confront it on his own.

"If he looks himself in the mirror, if Martínez looks himself in the mirror, all the players ... what they'll find staring back at them is themselves, and it's simply not good enough. They need to do more.

"They were brought to this football club for a reason — because they are quality players. World Cup winner, Premier League Player of the Year last season ... where are you? Show me. Show me why you deserve those accolades."

The spotlight remains firmly on Carrick ahead of Sunday's home clash against Bournemouth. He is expected to remain in the dugout for that match, but extending a seven-game winless streak would inevitably spark further scrutiny over his future at the club.
