Wayne Rooney Exposes Trump's Shocking Nuclear Warning in Surreal Presidential Encounter

Wayne Rooney has shared the unusual circumstances surrounding his unexpected encounter with former U.S. President Donald Trump, which featured conversations about nuclear warfare.

The Manchester United legend spent one season competing in America during the final phase of his playing career, signing with Major League Soccer team D.C. United in 2018 and featuring in 52 matches across all tournaments for the Washington-based club.

Rooney's time in North America was brief as he moved to Derby County as a player-manager in 2019, though he still managed to enjoy an unexpected golf outing with Trump.

Speaking about the experience on the Sky TV program A League of Their Own, Rooney described the peculiar and unforeseen circumstances of his presidential encounter.

Donald Trump appearing serious.

"During his first presidency, I went for a round of golf. My mate had come over from Manchester. We headed to play at his golf course and upon arrival, we noticed sniffer dogs and security personnel everywhere," explained the former England captain.

"And he told us, 'The President is arriving, he'll be joining your group.' We ended up playing with marksmen positioned all around. There were all sorts of security measures. It felt completely unreal. Three large Escalades were parked there. One of them had a container mounted on the rear.

"So, I asked him, 'What's that thing for?'. He explained that if there's a nuclear strike, he gets placed inside that and helicoptered away. So I wondered, 'What about the rest of us?'. He replied, 'You guys are screwed!'"

Rooney clearly wasn't put off from continuing his American adventure as he briefly returned to D.C. United when he took over as their head coach during the middle of 2022. Nevertheless, he only remained for just over twelve months before separating from the Washington franchise.

The 40-year-old was also previously invited with his family to visit the White House during his American stint, with Trump even requesting that the former forward mentor his son Barron.
